Labels#

Repository labels live under Settings → Labels (/{owner}/{repo}/settings/labels). The issue and pull request sidebars link there from the label picker ("Manage labels").

What you can do:

• List every label with its colour chip and description.
• Create a label: name (1–50 characters), optional description, and a colour. Pick one of the preset swatches or type a #rrggbb value. The chip above the form previews the result.
• Edit a label's name, colour or description.
• Delete a label after confirming. The label is removed from every issue and pull request that carried it.

Limits:

• If someone else changed the label first, your edit or deletion is rejected with a "changed, reload and retry" message; the list refreshes and you can reapply your change.
• Creating, editing and deleting labels requires permission to manage the repository's labels. Other repository readers can browse the list.
