What changed

Part 2 of 7 of the Solid library stack. Retain the pinned RockSolid source snapshot, original styling inputs, licenses, component evidence, and rebuild records. The snapshot is inactive until the integration stage.

This PR targets codex/issue-69-stack-01. The remaining stages complete the ten-library integration; git.cafe's linked stack is intended to land in order.

Type

  • New library

Verification

  • Reviewed the staged source and evidence for this layer.
  • The stage passed npm run typecheck on Node 24.22.1.
  • The assembled stack passed the production build and 428 tests on Node 24.22.1 before subsequent preview review fixes.
  • git diff --check passed; 227 changed files, 626,950 uncompressed bytes, and 200,400 packed Git bytes relative to the target branch. The largest changed file is 116,120 bytes.
  • This layer does not activate an interface; theme, mobile, keyboard, and screenshot checks apply to the final integration.

Related issue

Refs #69 — remaining stack stages provide the rest of the sources and the integration.

Possibly related issues

  • collection-of-things/Col#69: Adds the RockSolid source, styling, license, component evidence, and rebuild records described for the RockSolid stage. The PR does not include the later integration stage.
Merge Risk: External image Moderate · up to 2841e

The README clarification does not resolve the outstanding RockSolid behavior and accessibility concerns. Confirm how the staged package will be integrated and address or explicitly accept those concerns before merging the stack.

Security architecture risk: External image Low · up to 48114

The retained library is not connected to the running application by this PR, limiting current exposure. Its document-level interaction behavior needs care before activation, and incomplete coverage prevents a minimal-risk assessment.

Retained concerns No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — No new attacker-facing execution path was established for the inspected mounts. The public preview loader selects registered compositions rather than directly executing retained RockSolid source. Exposure after later activation remains outside this comparison.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The existing public preview request schema accepts a component identifier, bounded presentation CSS, theme, and output format—not replacement source. This PR does not change that request contract.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • inferred — Dialog's document-level resources have asymmetric ownership. Normal controlled closure removes listeners and scroll lock, but disposal while open removes only listeners. Instances also independently mutate the same body class and redirect document focus, creating latent interruption and concurrent-instance containment risks. These are retained-source limitations, not established reachable security findings in this PR.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Before activation, validate that modal effects remain confined to the intended preview document. If concurrent dialogs or interruption are supported, require disposal-safe scroll-lock ownership and coordinated focus handling without silently altering the retained upstream snapshot.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "[2/7] Retain RockSolid source and evidence" matches the main change: the PR retains a pinned RockSolid source snapshot, styling inputs, licenses, component evidence, and rebuild records under data/solid-libraries/rocksolid. The "[2/7]" stack prefix is noise, but the remaining words still describe the primary change clearly and specifically enough for a teammate scanning history.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 3 functions across 50 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

53@data/solid-libraries/rocksolid/upstream/src/components/Dialog/Dialog.tsx:
54- Around line 177-191: Update the createEffect in Dialog so the closed state
55returns without changing the body class. When open, add overflow-hidden and
56remove it in onCleanup alongside the existing listener cleanup, ensuring cleanup
57runs both when the dialog closes and when the component unmounts.
58- Around line 177-191: Update the Dialog component’s createEffect flow to save
59the previously focused element when local.open becomes true, move focus into the
60dialog after it mounts, and restore focus to the saved element during cleanup
61when it closes. Make the dialog div programmatically focusable with

65@data/solid-libraries/rocksolid/upstream/src/components/Select/Select.tsx:
66- Around line 107-109: The effect assigning `selectRef.value` in `Select` forces
67an empty selection when `local.value` is undefined, preventing the browser from
68selecting its first enabled option. Report this defect upstream rather than
69changing the pinned snapshot; the upstream fix should assign `selectRef.value`
70only when `local.value` is defined.

74- Around line 56-57: In the theme schema’s rawCheck action, check dataset.typed

Tab-list keyboard handling is incomplete for vertical and RTL layouts, and it lets Home/End scroll the page.

  • Vertical orientation: The handler reacts only to ArrowLeft and ArrowRight. ArrowUp and ArrowDown do nothing. The ARIA tabs pattern uses these keys for a vertical tab list. examples/Tabs.tsx uses orientation="vertical".
  • RTL: The two keys are not mirrored for dir="rtl". The preview sets dir="rtl", so ArrowRight moves to the previous tab there.
  • Home and End: The handler never calls event.preventDefault(). The browser also runs its default scroll action.

Add ArrowUp and ArrowDown for the vertical case. Mirror the horizontal keys when the computed direction is RTL. Call event.preventDefault() for every key the handler consumes.

This tree is a pinned upstream snapshot. Apply the fix in the integration layer, or record it as a deviation in the provenance files.

An omitted or unmatched defaultValue leaves the tab list unreachable by keyboard.

defaultValue is optional and falls back to "". No Tab has value === "", so activeTabValue() matches nothing. Each Tab then renders tabIndex={-1} (Tab/Tab.tsx Line 112). Body scroll lock stays on if Dialog unmounts while open.

The effect removes overflow-hidden only in the !local.open branch. If the component is disposed while open is true, for example on route change or when a parent Show closes, that branch never runs. The onCleanup callback removes only the listeners. The page then stays non-scrollable.

Dialog does not move focus on open or restore focus on close.

The dialog declares aria-modal="true". aria-modal does not move focus. When open becomes true, focus stays on the opener behind the backdrop. The focusin and Tab handlers only react after the user moves focus. Screen-reader users get no dialog announcement. When the dialog closes, nothing returns focus to the opener. The preview in examples/Dialog.tsx hides this because it handles focus in consumer code.

There is a second defect. dialog.focus() on Lines 102, 112, and 133 does nothing. The dialog div has no tabindex, so a div without focusable children cannot take focus. Add tabIndex={-1} before {...rest} on Line 226.

The sketch below saves the opener and moves focus after the portal content mounts. The onCleanup callback restores focus on close.

9Update the Dialog component’s createEffect flow to save the previously focused
10element when local.open becomes true, move focus into the dialog after it
11mounts, and restore focus to the saved element during cleanup when it closes.
12Make the dialog div programmatically focusable with tabIndex={-1} so the
13existing focus calls can work.

External image Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

An uncontrolled Select renders with no option selected.

The effect always assigns local.value ?? "" to selectRef.value. Assume a caller omits value and no option has the value "". The browser then sets selectedIndex to -1, and the control is blank. Without the effect, the browser selects the first enabled option. The examples pass value="admin", so they do not show this case.

This is pinned upstream code. Report the defect upstream instead of editing the snapshot.

9The effect assigning `selectRef.value` in `Select` forces an empty selection
10when `local.value` is undefined, preventing the browser from selecting its first
11enabled option. Report this defect upstream rather than changing the pinned
12snapshot; the upstream fix should assign `selectRef.value` only when
13`local.value` is defined.
