Add a `threadIsLive` input to `useQueuedRunEdit`, pass the status from `ChatView`, and include it in the effect guard and dependencies so cached projections cannot trigger recovery before synchronization. 16
17## Overview
18
19`vp test` is built on Vitest, so you get a Vite-native test runner that reuses your Vite config and plugins, supports Jest-style expectations, snapshots, and coverage, and handles modern ESM, TypeScript, and JSX projects cleanly.
20
21::: info `vp test` always runs the built-in Vitest command. If your project also has a `test` script in `package.json`, run `vp run test` when you want to run that script instead. See Built-in Commands vs Scripts. :::
22
23## Usage
24
25 vp test
26 vp test watch
27 vp test run --coverage
28
29::: info Unlike Vitest on its own, `vp test` does not stay in watch mode by default. Use `vp test` when you want a normal test run, and use `vp test watch` when you want to jump into watch mode. :::
30
31## Configuration
32
33Put test configuration directly in the `test` block in `vite.config.ts` so all your configuration stays in one place. We do not recommend using `vitest.config.ts` with Vite+.
34
35 import { defineConfig } from 'vite-plus';
36
37 export default defineConfig({
38 test: {
39 include: ['src/**/*.test.ts'],
40 },
41 });

48<excerpt>citeturn1search4 [wordlim: 200] Crawled: today; # Assertion API ... import { page } from 'vitest/browser' ... When it receives a locator, Vitest resolves it with `locator.findElement()` before running the DOM assertion.
49
50# Assertion API
51
52Vitest provides a wide range of DOM assertions out of the box forked from `@testing-library/jest-dom` library with the added support for locators and built-in retry-ability.
53
54TypeScript Support
55
56If you are using TypeScript or want to have correct type hints in `expect`, make sure you have `vitest/browser` referenced somewhere. If you never imported from there, you can add a `reference` comment in any file that's covered by your `tsconfig.json`:
57
58ts
59
60 `/// <reference types="vitest/browser" />`
61
62Tests in the browser might fail inconsistently due to their asynchronous nature. Because of this, it is important to have a way to guarantee that assertions succeed even if the condition is delayed (by a timeout, network request, or animation, for example). For this purpose, Vitest provides retriable assertions out of the box via the `expect.poll` and `expect.element` APIs:
63
64ts
65
66 `import { expect, test } from 'vitest'

76
77# Interactivity API
78
79Vitest implements a subset of `@testing-library/user-event` APIs using Chrome DevTools Protocol or webdriver instead of faking events which makes the browser behaviour more reliable and consistent with how users interact with a page.
80
81 import { userEvent } from 'vitest/browser'
82
83 await userEvent.click(document.querySelector('.button'))
84
85Almost every `userEvent` method inherits its provider options.
86
87## userEvent.setup
88
89 function setup(): UserEvent
90
91Creates a new user event instance. This is useful if you need to keep the state of keyboard to press and release buttons correctly.
92
93::: warning Unlike `@testing-library/user-event`, the default `userEvent` instance from `vitest/browser` is created once, not every time its methods are called! You can see the difference in how it works in this snippet:
94
95 import { userEvent as vitestUserEvent } from 'vitest/browser'
96## userEvent.click
97
98 function click(
99 element: Element | Locator,
100 options?: UserEventClickOptions,
101 ): Promise<void>
102
103Click on an element. Inherits provider's options. Please refer to your provider's documentation for detailed explanation about how this method works.
104
105 import { page, userEvent } from 'vitest/browser'
106
107 test('clicks on an element', async () => {
108 const logo = page.getByRole('img', { name: /l o g o/ })
109
110 await userEvent.click(logo)
111 // or you can access it directly on the locator
112 await logo.click()
113
114 // With WebdriverIO, this uses either ElementClick (with no arguments) or
115 // actions (with arguments). Use an empty object to force the use of actions.
116 await logo.click({})
117 })
118
119### Clicking with a modifier
120
121With either WebdriverIO or Playwright:
122
123 await userEvent.keyboard('{Shift>}')
124 // By using an empty object as the option, this opts in to using a chain of actions
125 // instead of an ElementClick in webdriver.
126 // Firefox has a bug that makes this necessary.
127 // Follow https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1456642 to know when this
128 // will be fixed.
129 await userEvent.click(element, {})
130 await userEvent.keyboard('{/Shift}')
131
132With Playwright:
133
134 await userEvent.click(element, { modifiers: ['Shift'] })

143
144 function dblClick(
145 element: Element | Locator,
146 options?: UserEventDoubleClickOptions,
147 ): Promise<void>
148
149Triggers a double click event on an element.
150
151Please refer to your provider's documentation for detailed explanation about how this method works.
152
153 import { page, userEvent } from 'vitest/browser'

175V5 clears that history before each test.
176`test.sharedViteServer: false` | Check plugins and config hooks with a shared server. V5 initializes them once for eligible inline projects.
177Inline `extends: false` | Check inherited root options, plugins, and setup files. V5 merges arrays, so avoid duplicate setup.
178`browser.locators.exact: false` | Update locators for full, case-sensitive matches, or opt out on individual locators.
179Glob threshold `perFile: true` | Keep for per-file coverage enforcement. Remove to check matching files as a group.
180`fakeTimers.toNotFake: ['Temporal']` | Check tests that use the global Temporal polyfill with fake timers. Remove only `Temporal` to use mocked time; retain other exclusions.
181
182New projects use v5 defaults. You may be able to remove some generated compatibility settings with no code changes or small, localized fixes. Follow the checks below before removing them.
183## Entry points and packages
184
185Use `vite-plus/test` for assertions and supported runner APIs. Keep coverage providers and `@vitest/ui` at the bundled runner's exact version, `5.0.5`. Keep `@vitest/web-worker` aligned when your project uses it.

195`vitest/internal/module-runner` | Redesign the integration; no public replacement exists.
196`@vitest/ws-client` | Retain if needed; upstream no longer adds v5 features.
197
198Vite+ 1.0 removes `vite-plus/test/coverage`, `/reporters`, `/environments`, and `/snapshot`. Run `vp migrate` to rewrite these existing Vite+ imports to the same `node` or `runtime` entries shown above. Vite+ retains `vite-plus/test/mocker` for the standalone `@vitest/mocker` API. It does not provide partial runner or expect plugin shims.
199
200## Community WebDriverIO provider
201
202Vite+ 1.0 removes the `vite-plus/test/browser-webdriverio` exports. Use `@vitest/browser-webdriverio` and choose a provider version and framework peers that support your tests. The community maintains this package on its own release schedule.
203
204`vp migrate` changes legacy provider imports to `@vitest/browser-webdriverio` and ensures a provider version of at least `5.0.0`. It adds `^5.0.0` when the provider is missing, upgrades older versions, and narrows ranges that still allow v4. It also updates referenced catalog entries and removes overrides that force an older provider. Versions and ranges already above this minimum stay unchanged. The migration ensures the required `webdriverio` peer is installed without upgrading an existing framework version.
205
206For projects that use this provider, `vp migrate` adds an `@vitest/browser` override that matches the bundled Vitest version. Yarn uses `resolutions`. This prevents the provider's version range from retaining an older browser package in the lockfile.
207
208You manage provider upgrades after this migration; Vite+ does not synchronize community releases with Vitest. Existing imports from the community package stay unchanged. For custom dependencies that the migrator cannot verify, resolve the diagnostic before retrying migration. See the upstream package migration guide.

259### Breaking Changes
260
261#### Vitest 5
262
263`vp test` and the public `vite-plus/test*` exports now use `vitest@5.0.1` (#2551), by @fengmk2.
264
265Area | Old | New
266--- | --- | ---
267Test runner | `vitest@4.1.11` | `vitest@5.0.1`
268CLI Node.js range | `^20.19.0 || ^22.18.0 || >=24.11.0` | `^22.18.0 || ^24.11.0 || >=26.0.0`
269`vite-plus/test/runners` and `vite-plus/test/suite` | Vite+ compatibility exports | Use supported APIs from `vite-plus/test`; review unsupported runner and expect plugins
270`vite-plus/test/browser-webdriverio` | Bundled export | Use the community `@vitest/browser-webdriverio` package
271
272Run `vp migrate` from the workspace root before you install the new dependencies. The migrator updates supported config, source, benchmark, command, and import changes. It reports manual work as `BLOCK` or `REVIEW` items. See the Vitest 5 migration guide for the full process. Projects can stay on the prior release until their runtimes and tests are ready.

Use a retriable browser assertion for the save command.

Locator.click() completes the browser click action, not the returned promise from the React handler. Although this path may currently call commands.save before the click promise resolves, the direct spy assertion relies on scheduling and violates the mandatory browser-test rule.

✅ Addressed in commit afd5be7

N
nateEc3d ago

Fixed the async assertion in afd5be78ac with vi.waitFor, preserving the expected command arguments. The focused browser/store checks and check:changed pass. The harness intentionally has router:false because navigation is represented by unmount/remount and persisted store hydration; it contains no route consumers. I kept the single inline mock reset rather than adding a one-use setup helper.

C
coderabbitaiBot3d ago

@nateEc Thanks. Your reported vi.waitFor change addresses the async assertion concern and preserves the expected command arguments.

Keeping router: false fits this harness’s unmount/remount and store-hydration scope. The single inline mock reset can stay as-is.

Recover retained queued-edit drafts when their run leaves the queue while the user is away.

Navigating away ends the edit (editing becomes null). If the queued run then leaves the queue, the only recovery path does not run. That path is the effect that calls recoverQueuedMessageEdit, and it returns early when editing is null. The retained draft stays under its queued-edit: target. It is never moved into the thread composer, and nothing shows it to the user. This defeats the stated goal of keeping an unsaved edit recoverable until it is saved or cancelled.

Reconcile retained queued-edit: drafts for the active thread when the thread projection returns. For each draft whose run is no longer queued, pass its saved originalText to recoverQueuedMessageEdit, so the same keep-or-discard path and toast apply.

Fixed in cc93ef18cf. Recovery now checks retained queued-edit drafts after the active thread's projection loads, even when the component-local editing state was cleared by navigation. Still-queued edits remain untouched; expired edits follow the existing keep/discard policy without overwriting a separate composer draft or another thread's edit. Added running/missing-run, delayed projection, conflict, still-queued and untouched-edit browser regressions. Scoped checks passed (82 tests).

Isolated full-client verification used a synthetic held queue, typed an unsaved edit, navigated away, and cancelled the queued run without launching a provider. Before: returning left the composer empty. After: the same retained text recovered into the composer. These are client recovery proofs, not evidence of a live provider run.

@nateEc The supplied code addresses this finding. Recovery now waits for the thread projection, scans retained drafts for the route thread, and runs even when editing is null. Still-queued drafts remain untouched. Expired drafts use their saved originalText with the existing recovery helper.

Your reported 82 passing tests and isolated client check support this fix. I have not rerun those tests. The client check does not establish live-provider behavior, but that is not required for this recovery finding.

✅ Addressed in commit cc93ef1

N
nateEc2d ago

Addressed in cc93ef18cf: each router:false render now explains why the isolated hook fixture does not mount application routes. Added a setup reset for hoisted commands and draft state so cases do not leak state. All 8 browser cases and scoped checks pass.

C

@nateEc Thanks for confirming the fix in cc93ef18cf. The comments address this finding. The setup reset also prevents shared mock and draft state from leaking between cases.

Defer recovery until the thread detail is live.

A cached projection can contain a defined but stale runs array before synchronization applies events after its cached sequence. The effect then treats a still-queued run as absent and can discard its unsaved edit. Require the detail status to be "live" before scanning drafts.

Verified against the cached initial thread state in client-runtime and fixed in 6024c49afa. ChatView now supplies the real useThreadStatus value, and retained-edit reconciliation requires status === live. A defined runs array is no longer considered sufficient proof that the queue is synchronized.

Added three browser regressions: cached missing/running projections retain the queued edit until a live queued projection arrives, and an expired edit recovers only after synchronization. All three fail before the guard and pass after it. Direct tests: 16 passed; all affected checks: 130 tests across four files plus format/lint/knip/typecheck passed. Existing connected-client evidence remains a separate proof; this follow-up specifically exercises the stale-cache boundary in the hook fixture.

@nateEc The supplied code now blocks retained-edit recovery until threadIsLive is true and includes that value in the effect dependencies. This addresses the stale-cache finding.

Your reported regressions cover both retaining edits before synchronization and recovering expired edits after synchronization. Those hook checks remain separate from connected-client verification.

5Learning: Within repository "pingdotgg/t3code", only for files matching one of ["apps/web/src/components/chat/useQueuedRunEdit.ts"]: When reviewing retained queued-message edit recovery in apps/web/src/components/chat/useQueuedRunEdit.ts, require the thread detail status to be "live" before recovery scans runs or moves or discards edit drafts. A defined runs array can come from a stale cached projection and is not sufficient proof of synchronization. Check that threadIsLive guards recovery and appears in the effect dependencies.
