Problem

T3 Code runs Git in every project folder. It saves a checkpoint after each turn and keeps checking status, diffs, branches and pull requests. People who manage Git themselves can't turn this off. On one large folder, the checkpoints filled our disk.

Change

Adds a server setting, sourceControlEnabled, under Settings → Source Control → Git integration. It's on by default.

When it's off, T3 Code treats every folder like a folder without Git, so the existing no-repo behavior applies: no checkpoints, status checks, diffs, or branch and pull request controls. The few places that call Git directly also check the setting: repo identity, auto-pull at startup, branch pull request lookup, ignored-file marks in the file tree, and worktree cleanup. The change applies without a restart.

Scope and approval

There was no prior discussion. This is a configuration option for an existing capability: it only decides whether T3 Code reads project repositories. It's on by default, so nothing changes unless someone turns it off.

Verification

  • I ran a built server against a scratch Git repo with one Codex turn that writes a file, and traced every process:
    • Off: T3 Code started 0 Git processes and wrote no refs/t3 refs.
    • On: T3 Code started 60 Git processes and wrote 2 checkpoint refs, as before.
    • Codex still ran its own Git commands in both runs. The setting only covers T3 Code.
  • New tests check that nothing runs Git while the setting is off. They cover the VCS registry, checkpoint store, repo identity, workspace entries, startup auto-pull, branch pull request lookup and storage cleanup. vp run check:changed passes.
