🟡 Medium threads/ThreadGitControls.tsx:397

On non-split layouts without native header glass, users cannot start “Continue on…” from the thread header even when ThreadRouteScreen supplies onContinueOn. This item is added only to the serialized header menu; the fallback ThreadGitControls uses threadGitMenuDefinition, which does not include it. Add the action to that fallback menu as well.

Fixed in c826fd6c62: the fallback header menu lists Continue on… when ThreadRouteScreen supplies onContinueOn, as the native-glass menu and the Android app bar already do.

A disconnected or disabled destination still gets an enabled “Open on …” action, which navigates the user to an unavailable environment. useEnvironmentIds() includes catalog entries regardless of connection state, so use useConnectedEnvironmentIds() for this check.

Handle queued outbox messages before starting the handoff.

threadHandoffEnvironment.start receives no outbox state. A queued message exists only in the mobile outbox, while the server's handoff settlement checks persisted messages and runs. The handoff can therefore enter departing before the outbox dispatches the message.

The server rejects later dispatches for departing or departed threads. Block the handoff until the outbox drains successfully, or transfer queued messages as part of the handoff and handle rejected dispatches.

Fixed in b1e90da6dd: the sheet refuses to start while the thread has a message waiting in the device outbox, with "A message is still waiting to send from this device. Send or discard it first." Web has no device-side outbox; its queued sends are runs on the server, which already refuses the move.

C
coderabbitaiBot7d ago

@juliusmarminge Thanks for the fix and clarification. Refusing the handoff until the device outbox message is sent or discarded addresses this finding. Web needs no device-outbox guard because its queued sends are server-side runs that already block the move.

5Learning: In pingdotgg/t3code, mobile has a device-side message outbox, but web does not. Web queued sends are server-side runs, and the server already refuses thread handoff while those runs prevent settlement. Do not require a device-outbox guard for web handoff controls.

Keep system banners ahead of the handoff notice.

ComposerBannerStack sorts by priority, so higher-priority reconnect and running-update banners already appear first. However, ordinary update notices tie with an informational handoff notice, and a failed handoff ties with error or warning banners. Because handoffItems is first in both arrays, it can still hide those system notices in the collapsed stack. Move systemComposerBannerItems before handoffItems in both branches.

Check the destination connection before showing “Open on”.

presentationById includes catalog environments even when their connection phase is not "connected". The current membership check can show “Open on” for a disconnected destination.

Hide the move action without thread-operate access.

When canOperateThread is false, this guard still offers “Continue on another environment.” Selecting a destination then attempts a move the connection cannot authorize. Include canOperateThread in the guard so the header does not offer an unusable action. As per path instructions, the Effect-service rules “do not prescribe client-side UI behavior”; this finding concerns the client action’s access gate.

If the user switches threads or calls closeMenu() while readThreadHandoffTargets is pending, this continuation still calls contextMenu.show with the old thread’s actions, so a stale menu can appear over the new thread or rename flow. Invalidate pending opens on thread changes and close, then check that the open is still current after this await before showing the menu.

Fixed in c1f6da387b: each open takes a token; closing the menu, a newer open or a thread switch makes it stale, and a stale open stops before contextMenu.show. The sidebar's right-click menu had the same race and got the same guard. Test fails without it.

Guard direct sends during handoff.

The server rejects message.dispatch for departing and departed threads, but onSend does not check the handoff state before it updates optimistic messages and clears the composer. sendAppMessage also calls startThreadTurn directly without this check. These paths can perform client-side send work before the server rejection.

Check the handoff state before optimistic updates and direct dispatch. Keep the server rejection as a backstop.

When a thread context-menu handler is waiting for readThreadHandoffTargets, opening a draft menu leaves latestThreadContextMenuRef.current unchanged, so the stale thread handler still calls api.contextMenu.show and replaces the draft menu. Increment the shared generation when the draft handler opens its menu so the pending thread request is discarded.

Only show “Open on” for connected destinations.

useEnvironmentIds() includes disconnected environments because it reads the catalog keys. A departed thread can therefore show “Open on” after its destination disconnects. The button then navigates to that unavailable environment, contrary to the banner contract.

Use useConnectedEnvironmentIds() for this condition.

8Update useThreadHandoffBannerItem to use useConnectedEnvironmentIds instead of
9useEnvironmentIds when determining canOpenThere, so the “Open on” action appears

🟡 Medium chat/ThreadHandoffBanner.tsx:40

When cancellation for pending thread A is in flight, a different pending thread B is also shown as “Cancelling…” and its Keep it here button is disabled. The component-wide cancelling state persists when shell changes; key it to the shell and handoff so only the request for the displayed thread disables its button.

🟠 High threads/ThreadRouteScreen.tsx:778

While a thread has a running or queued turn, onContinueOn still enables the header action, so users can select a destination only for ThreadHandoff.start to reject the operation. Gate this action on the thread not having an active or pending turn.

Fixed in b1e90da6dd: onContinueOn and the thread list's long-press menu require no running or queued turn (threadRuntimeIsActive), matching what the server refuses.

On a read-only connection with peerLinks, Continue on… is enabled and lets the user invoke startThreadHandoff, even though the connection lacks permission to move the thread. The disabled condition checks only runtime state; also require AuthOrchestrationOperateScope for this environment.

Fixed in c826fd6c62: the palette item is disabled unless the connection has operate access, as the thread menus already require.
