Important

Stacked PR 1 of 4. Review and merge in this order:

  1. #22237: Thread links in chat render as chips ← this PR
  2. #22243: Thread chips show the thread's project icon
  3. #22481: Projects without a favicon show a monogram, like desktop
  4. #22585: Chat and composer chips stay readable in light mode

This PR is based directly on main, so its diff is only its own changes.

When a PR earlier in the stack merges, I rebase the ones after it onto main.

Problem

In mobile chat, a thread in a user message's context records renders as a chip, but the same thread written as a t3-thread:// link is a plain blue link. Agents write these links all the time, so assistant replies looked unlike the user messages above them. Desktop already renders thread links as thread chips.

Fix

Mobile chat markdown (assistant and user text) now renders t3-thread:// links as the thread chip, using the same presentation table and pill path #22169 uses for context chips. No new styling: the chip is the teal thread chip with the MessagesSquare glyph, and the label stays the link's own text, which mobile already swaps for the live thread title.

Tapping still opens the thread, and long-press still shows the same menu. Every other link is unchanged, including GitHub pull request URLs, which keep their blue link with a GitHub mark.

Evidence

The thread-link rows of the "Chip fixture" thread: user bubble on top, assistant reply below. iOS dark and light on the first row, Android dark and light on the second.

Before

Before: "Rename Math Helper to Sum" is plain text in the user bubble and a plain blue link in the reply, on iOS and Android

After

After: "Rename Math Helper to Sum" is a teal thread chip in both the user bubble and the reply, on iOS and Android

Validation

  • vp test run for apps/mobile/src/lib/enrichedLinkPresentation.test.ts and the React Compiler coverage test, tsc --noEmit for apps/mobile, lint on the changed files.

Note

🤖 Claude Opus 5.5 on behalf of Oliver

Agreed, fixed in c0c504412b. pullRequestChipStates now reads links through the shared visibleThreadPullRequests, which drops stack-dismissed tombstones the same way the rest of the client does. A new test checks a newer tombstoned snapshot neither overrides a still-linked PR's state nor produces a state on its own.

📝 Walkthrough

Mobile thread feeds now derive pull-request chip states and use them to customize thread and GitHub pull-request links. The state map updates when snapshots change and is included in list appearance data.

Changes: Mobile enriched chat links

Layer / File(s)Summary
Derive pull-request chip states
apps/mobile/src/lib/enrichedLinkPresentation.ts, apps/mobile/src/state/entities.ts, apps/mobile/src/lib/enrichedLinkPresentation.test.ts
The state helper selects the newest non-null snapshot for each visible pull request. A per-environment atom derives and reuses chip-state maps, and a hook exposes each map. Tests cover snapshot ordering and dismissed links.
Build chat-link chip customizations
apps/mobile/src/lib/enrichedLinkPresentation.ts, apps/mobile/src/native/useEnrichedLinkVariants.ts, apps/mobile/src/lib/enrichedLinkPresentation.test.ts
Thread URLs and GitHub pull-request URLs map to chips. Shared customization logic maps presentation data to markdown link styling. Tests cover supported links and unsupported URLs.
Wire chip states into ThreadFeed
apps/mobile/src/features/threads/ThreadFeed.tsx
ThreadFeed reads pull-request chip states for the current environment, provides chat-link customization to markdown handlers, and includes the state map in list appearance data.

Compare syncedAt values as instants.

ThreadPullRequestSnapshot.syncedAt accepts offset-bearing timestamps, but this reducer compares the raw strings. For duplicate keys, an older 2026-10-01T01:00:00+02:00 (23:00Z) followed by a newer 2026-10-01T00:30:00Z can keep the older snapshot. An open chip can therefore remain visible when the newer snapshot is merged. Use the repository timestamp comparator.

Pass the chat link customization to review comment bodies.

A valid review-comment block in a user message renders through ReviewCommentCard, which does not receive markdownLinkHandlers. Its t3-thread:// and GitHub pull-request links therefore do not receive enrichedChatLinkCustomization and remain ordinary links instead of chips.

Not applying this here. ReviewCommentCard gets none of chat's link handling today: no file chips, no context chips, no link press or long-press handlers. Making only thread and PR links into chips inside review comments would be inconsistent with every other link in that card. Giving review-comment bodies the full chat link treatment is a separate change.

@flamboh Thanks for clarifying the scope. I withdraw this finding. ReviewCommentCard uses a separate link-handling path, so adding only thread and PR chips would introduce partial chat link support.

Would you like a follow-up issue for full chat link support in review-comment bodies?
