feat(settings): Simlock, Antigravity and OpenCode credentials can come from a secret provider#31652
Problem
Three credential fields still accepted only plaintext, unlike the other secret fields: Simlock agentToken, Antigravity apiKey and OpenCode serverPassword.
Change
- All three are typed
SettingsSecretValue, so the settings forms show the secret source picker and the server resolves them. - Simlock: the host reads the token each time it needs it instead of once at build, so an unlocked or rotated secret works without a restart. An unreadable reference fails with the usual "Could not read the credential from the secret provider…" and never falls back to
AGENT_DEVICE_DAEMON_AUTH_TOKEN. Each lease keeps the token it opened with, so it can still be released after the secret becomes unreadable. The token check RPC accepts a reference too. The Settings refresh now also invalidates Simlock references. The web editor usesSecretSourceInput. - Antigravity and OpenCode:
ProviderInstanceRegistryalready resolves references in config fields typed this way and marks the instance unavailable when it can't; the drivers only narrow the type. - Older clients: the existing legacy projection shows all three as a saved secret, and saving that back keeps the reference. The strict-reference tripwire now lists
simlockDeviceHosts.[].agentTokenon purpose.
Verification
- Extended existing tests: legacy projection and echo for all three, the tripwire,
SimlockDeviceHost.test.ts(reference read; unreadable fails with no gateway requests even with an env token for the same gateway), aProviderInstanceRegistry.test.tsrow per driver schema, a refresh invalidation case, and the web save plan. The affected server tests fail onmain. vp run check:changedpasses.- Not checked in a real client.

Approvability
Verdict: Approved at a20cccd
Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — Adds optional secret-provider credentials for Simlock, Antigravity and OpenCode while retaining literal credentials and existing defaults. Unreadable references fail closed, and Simlock preserves gateway scoping and lease cleanup credentials.

Simlock, Antigravity, and OpenCode credential settings now accept secret references. Server code resolves or extracts credential values for device and provider operations. The Simlock editor supports secret-source selection, and settings handling covers reference redaction, preservation, and invalidation.

Cover HTTP release after the reference becomes unreadable.
After the lease opens, make the reference unreadable and make the fake CLI close fail. Assert that the fallback DELETE uses the token read during opening. Extend the existing test and add the required fake-pool support for the failed close and recorded authorization header. This focused backend test is required by the testing guidance and protects the lease-release behavior; it does not indicate a current production release failure.

✅ Addressed in the latest update
Not adding this case. It asks for extra coverage, not a fix: the lease keeps the token read when it opened, and the existing SimlockDeviceHost tests cover that the lease and endpoint use the secret it read. Faking a failed CLI close to reach the HTTP DELETE fallback would mostly test the fake pool.

@juliusmarminge Understood. I withdraw the request for this additional test.
The existing test checks the endpoint token and CLI close. The HTTP fallback uses lease.token, though the test does not exercise that fallback after the reference becomes unreadable.

Reject empty resolved secret references before provider creation.
ProviderInstanceRegistry.readInstanceSecrets accepts "" as readable. OpenCode then omits the empty password before creating OpenCodeServerOwner. The runtime treats the missing password as permission to use the inherited OPENCODE_SERVER_PASSWORD, so an explicit reference can silently select an ambient credential.
Use the shared guard for environment and config references. Antigravity already reports an empty API key as a missing credential and does not need a separate fallback change.

✅ Addressed in commit a20cccd
Fixed in a20cccd79db: a secret that reads empty counts as unreadable for both environment variables and config fields, so the instance is unavailable instead of falling back to OPENCODE_SERVER_PASSWORD. The registry's unavailable test now covers an empty secret; it fails without the fix.

@juliusmarminge Verified in a20cccd: the shared guard rejects empty and whitespace-only values for both environment and config references. The regression test covers an empty environment secret. I did not run the test.

Make a live instance unavailable when its secret becomes blank.
If a secret changes from a valid value to whitespace, reloadSecrets treats it as unreadable and keeps the live instance with its old credential. A settings refresh therefore does not make the instance unavailable. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
Distinguish a blank value from a failed read on reload, and add a test for this transition. The PR objective requires an empty secret to leave the instance unavailable.

Keeping this as is. reloadSecrets deliberately keeps a working instance when a re-read fails ("A failed re-read keeps the working instance and the value it already holds"), so a locked or misbehaving vault never tears down a running provider. A blank value now follows that same rule: the instance keeps the credential it was started with and never falls back to an inherited one, which is what this change is about. A new or rebuilt instance with a blank secret is unavailable, as the test covers. To stop using the credential, the user clears the reference in Settings, which rebuilds the instance.
@juliusmarminge Thanks for clarifying. I misunderstood the intended behavior. A blank secret on refresh should preserve the running instance and its existing credential. A new or rebuilt instance with a blank secret remains unavailable. I withdraw the finding.

Check separately that a new or rebuilt enabled instance with an unreadable referenced secret is unavailable instead of falling back to an inherited credential. Configuration changes can still trigger a rebuild. Note: Learnings are effective only in the context of similar code segments.
