Expanding “Worked for” could move the header out from under a second tap or make the reply below it disappear and jump back. The conversation also jumped when sending with the iOS keyboard open, when expanding an Android question, and when a Pixel Fold switched to its cover screen.

Keep visible rows anchored while the timeline measures the disclosure, then move them to their new positions. Coordinate keyboard dismissal with the optimistic message, give the Android question card its actual space below the feed, and let the conversation take the available width as a fold closes. This follows #28660; the sent-bubble direction fix is already on main.

Verification

vp run check:changed passed; all 143 tests in the four focused mobile suites passed. On iOS Simulator and Android Emulator, tested rapid double-taps, disclosure in older history without scrolling to the end, reduced motion, and foldable cover/half-open/unfolded layouts. These recordings show direction, continuity and hit targets, not physical-device frame rates.

Approvability

Verdict: Approved at 73e0422

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This stabilizes mobile conversations during disclosure toggles, keyboard dismissal, question expansion, and fold-layout changes. The effects are presentation-focused, with no changes to message contents or dispatch policy and no obvious material risk requiring human judgment.

Walkthrough

The changes update Android workspace sizing and mobile thread behavior. Pending questions can use in-flow layout on Android. Thread-feed disclosure changes preserve row positioning, and keyboard-visible sends use updated enqueue and keyboard-lift handling.

Changes: Adaptive workspace layout

Layer / File(s)Summary
Animated split-view sizing
apps/mobile/src/features/layout/AdaptiveWorkspaceLayout.tsx
Workspace page content width excludes the sidebar. Android content and navigator widths follow the animated pane size. The navigation rail is constrained or overlaid according to its state.

Thread question and feed behavior

Layer / File(s)Summary
Pending question layout
apps/mobile/src/features/threads/PendingUserInputCard.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/threads/ComposerPopoverHost.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/threads/ThreadDetailScreen.tsx
The question card renders in an animated overlay. On Android, the question and composer can use in-flow layout, with adjusted feed insets and overlay repinning.
Feed disclosure positioning
apps/mobile/src/features/threads/ThreadFeed.tsx, apps/mobile/src/lib/filePreview.test.ts
The feed captures row positions during disclosure changes and preserves measured layout space. Reduced-motion behavior is applied, and the test mock provides reduced-motion accessibility methods.
Keyboard-visible send handling
apps/mobile/src/state/use-thread-composer-state.ts, apps/mobile/src/features/threads/ThreadDetailScreen.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/threads/ThreadFeed.tsx
The composer invokes an optional callback before enqueueing. The screen tracks eligible keyboard-visible sends and passes the state to the feed, which adjusts keyboard lifting and end-scroll maintenance.

Scroll after keyboard dismissal when no new anchor is created.

A keyboard-visible send in an existing conversation sets dismissingKeyboard, but resolveThreadFeedSubmissionAnchor returns null for existing user messages. This skips scrollMessageToEnd(...). End maintenance cannot reliably replace it because ThreadFeed disables maintainScrollAtEnd while sendingWithKeyboard is true. The optimistic message can remain at the pre-dismissal position.

  • fix(mobile): reveal submitted messages after the iOS keyboard closes73e0422

Fixed CodeRabbit’s outside-diff finding in 73e0422.

I reproduced it on an iPhone 18 Pro simulator: scroll up in an existing conversation, go offline, and queue a message with the keyboard open. The keyboard closed but the feed stayed on old messages. A fast connected reply could hide the bug. The feed now scrolls after keyboard dismissal even when there is no new anchor, unless the reader has started scrolling or left the thread.

The same offline sequence now reveals the message marked Pending, without reconnecting. I also verified connected sends from the bottom and from older history. All 28 follow-state tests and vp run check:changed passed.

Before/after recording

Before: the feed stays on old messages. After: the queued message is visible above the composer.
