A thread with many bound automations (about 25) made the thread details card taller than the window. The card then switched to compact density, and compact layout does not render Automations, so the section that caused the overflow disappeared.

The Automations list now scrolls inside the same 13.5rem cap that the lineage and side chat lists use. The card's density measurement also skips [data-thread-automations-panel], the same way it skips PR, lineage and side chat lists. A long automations list can no longer push the card into compact.

Verification

  • ThreadDetailsCard.browser.test.tsx gets a case where a tall automations panel must keep the card at full density. It fails on main (compact) and passes with the fix.
  • vp run check:changed passes (format, lint, knip, typecheck, tests, React compiler).
  • Web dev server on synthetic data: a replay thread with 25 bound, paused automations, viewport 1440x900, driven headlessly with Playwright. The "before" capture comes from an origin/main worktree with a copy of the same data. The machine name row is masked.
Before (main): compact, no AutomationsAfter: Automations shownAfter: list scrolled to the end

Walkthrough

The automation list now has a maximum height and vertical scrolling. The thread details card excludes the automation panel from density measurement. A browser test checks that six automation rows do not change the card from full density.

Explanation

The description explains the problem, the implementation, and detailed verification results. It includes screenshots, test coverage, manual validation, and a link to the fixing issue. It does not use a separate Scope and approval heading, but the focused change and linked issue provide sufficient scope context.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Issue #28580 requires the Automations section to remain visible with a height-limited, scrolling list. ThreadAutomationsPanel.tsx adds max-h-[13.5rem] overflow-y-auto. ThreadDetailsCard.tsx excludes [data-thread-automations-panel] from density measurement. ThreadDetailsCard.browser.test.tsx verifies that a tall automations panel keeps the card at full density. The optional count and settings link are not required.

Explanation

The pull request changes only the automation list layout, the density measurement selector and related comment, and the browser test for this behavior. Each change supports issue #28580. No unrelated change appears in the whole-pull-request diff.

Allow scrolling to continue into the card.

When the card overflows, overscroll-contain stops wheel and touch scrolling at the automation list boundary. This also happens when the list has only one task and cannot scroll. Users must move outside the list to reach content below it. (w3.org)

Remove overscroll-contain so scrolling can continue into the card.

checked it in chromium: a one-row list with overscroll-contain stopped the wheel from reaching the card, without it the card scrolls. removed in 356bba729b

@Mnigos Thanks for checking this in Chromium. The supplied code removes overscroll-contain while keeping the height cap and overflow-y-auto. This addresses the finding.

Exercise the production automations list in the browser test.

The fixture renders only a synthetic section with data-thread-automations-panel and an inline height. It does not render ThreadAutomationsPanel, so removing max-h-[13.5rem] or overflow-y-auto from the production list would not fail this test. Render the production panel with multiple automation rows, or add a focused browser test, and assert its capped height and vertical overflow.

Verified in a real dev environment

verified as-is at 356bba729b2d7bc0a959d50a1f00261a80687744 on a linux boat vm, using the repo's playwright and /usr/bin/google-chrome against real dev servers.

  • reproduced on github/main (8760d063e9) in a separate worktree. added a real git project through the web ui, selected codex gpt-6.1-sol, and used a real provider turn to create 25 paused weekly automations bound to its thread. settings showed all 25, while thread details switched to compact density and hid automations.
  • stopped main before starting the exact pr head with a copy of that saved app data. the card stayed at full density; its production list contained 25 rows in a 216px viewport with 1200px of scrollable content. wheel scrolling reached the last task.
  • the last task's resume/pause controls persisted both changes. its edit action opened the correct task and current-thread destination with model 6.1 Sol; saving worked. run-now twice produced scheduled automation verified. through the real codex provider in the same thread.
  • checked 1280x720 in light and dark themes. at 1440x600, wheel scrolling at the list boundary continued into the surrounding card (listTop=984, cardTop=54, cardMax=54).
  • vp run check:changed b50d8a1b15ee passed through blacksmith-check: format, lint, knip, affected typechecks, 10 browser tests, and the two selected react compiler cases. the runner needed its shallow history and chromium installed first. no source changes or pushes were needed.

native ios/android and the electron desktop shell were not exercised on this linux vm. other providers and remote/relay/tunnel connections were not exercised. the weekly timer was not left running for a week; execution was exercised through run-now instead.
