fix(server): preserve settled runs during delegated acknowledgements#25672
Problem
A delegated-task acknowledgement can overwrite a parent run with the snapshot read before its provider failure or checkpoint completion committed. The settled run becomes running or waiting again, blocking later runs even though the provider turn has ended.
The focused reproduction commits the terminal state between the acknowledgement's read and commit. On main, both the failed-run and checkpoint-completed cases lose their settlement fields.
Change
Reuse the existing transactional delegated-completion merge for acknowledgement and disposal commands. Read the current parent run inside the commit transaction and replace only its delegated-completion data. Keep cancellation updates for separate queued delivery runs intact.
No contract, client, provider adapter, or persisted-state changes.

Verification
- Regression file: 30/30 passed; both new cases fail before the fix and pass afterward.
- Related checkpoint, persistence, steering, MCP orchestration, recovery, and runtime tests: 202/202 passed.
vp run check:changed: passed format, lint, knip, GraphQL, affected typechecks, and 43 tests.- Independent Codex and Claude reviews: both MERGE; proof audit: SUFFICIENT.
- Merged current main into 0360b6cd25; 52 scoped tests passed and check:changed passed. The reviewed server implementation is unchanged by the merge.
Current-main refresh: merged main at 0604547a3ae7 without conflicts; the three reviewed fix files are unchanged. The full delegated-completion regression file passed 30/30 again, and vp run check:changed passed all checks including 43/43 scoped tests.
Server-only evidence; the visual fixture matrix is empty.

The dev server started successfully. Browser automation was unavailable, so verification uses the authorized focused orchestration/EventSink/projection runtime test fallback. A real-provider error replay and independent Stop/queue recovery were not verified.

Approvability
Verdict: Approved at 28d2e57
Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a focused server bug fix that prevents delegated acknowledgement/disposal events from overwriting a parent run that settled concurrently. The implementation is localized and includes regression coverage for both failure and checkpoint-completion races.

Walkthrough
Delegated completion resolution now identifies its parent run. Command commits use that ID to merge delegated-completion updates with the current projected run row. A regression test covers provider-event and checkpoint-capture races.

Explanation
The changes are limited to the delegated-completion merge used by EventSink commit and write operations, propagation of the affected parent run ID, and regression tests for the reported acknowledgement race. These changes directly support [
#24743]. No unrelated contract, client, provider-adapter, or persisted-state changes appear in the reviewed diff.

Explanation
Issue [
#24743] requires a provider-error settlement to remain failed and requires Interrupt and Stop to settle a run immediately after the provider turn ends. The changed EventSink and Orchestrator paths preserve an existing failed or completed settlement during delegated acknowledgement and disposal. The regression test covers the failed and checkpoint-completed acknowledgement races. The diff does not change the Interrupt or Stop path, and the PR description states that independent Stop recovery was not verified. Therefore, the evidence supports the race fix but does not establish all coding requirements in [#24743].Resolution
Implement or verify the immediate Interrupt and Stop settlement path for a run whose provider turn has ended. Add automated regression coverage for both commands. Retain the existing acknowledgement and disposal race tests.

The independent Stop/queue recovery gap is explicitly listed in Verification. This fix preserves provider-error and checkpoint settlement during acknowledgement; it does not add or claim a new Stop recovery path. The focused red/green cases prove that terminal status and settlement fields survive the stale acknowledgement. The tracing-comment nitpick is valid and will be fixed. There is implementation overlap with #25662; the dispatcher should select one implementation when landing rather than merge both independently.

- docs(server): explain delegated merge tracing boundary28d2e57
Fixed the untraced-helper explanation in 28d2e57. All 43 scoped tests, format, lint, GraphQL, affected typechecks and both Knip passes succeeded; the first Knip pass needed a retry after transient DNS failure. Origin now contains the main refresh plus this comment, while GitHub was still at the earlier reviewed head; latest-head CI remains required before the bugfix handoff.
