Models could keep their "NEW" badge indefinitely because the manifest stored a manual flag. The server now derives the badge from the provider's release date and removes it after seven days, including when reading a cached manifest or the bundled Claude fallback. Haiku 5.5 uses its October 7 release date.

Verified with 20 focused tests across the manifest, Claude catalog, and Codex catalog, plus targeted lint, server typecheck, and a diff whitespace check. Merged current main and resolved the conflicts while preserving its tracing changes and test removals.

Model: GPT 6.1 Sol. Harness: Codex.

Approvability

Verdict: Approved at ef37287

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This narrowly scoped server fix derives model “new” badges from release dates and expires them after seven days, with focused boundary and cached-read tests. It does not change configured product defaults or introduce new workflows, integrations, or static-analysis overrides.

Walkthrough

Model manifests now record release dates, and catalog resolution derives the “new” badge from model age. Claude fallback resolution reads the bundled manifest when needed. Tests cover badge date boundaries and expiration.

A Claude model’s “NEW” badge can remain visible after its seven-day window on two provider paths. The change is mergeable with owner awareness, but those defaults should use a fresh catalog.

Validate releasedAt against its ISO contract before deriving the badge.

releasedAt accepts any string, and Date.parse accepts non-ISO values such as "2026/01/01". A current model with that value can receive the new badge. Use a Schema decoder that accepts the documented ISO date and timestamp formats. Treat decode failures as invalid dates so they remain unbadged without rejecting the entire manifest.

Note

Generated by GPT 6.1 Sol

Keeping the existing parser. releasedAt is maintainer-authored manifest metadata, and the supported ISO values expire correctly after seven days. Accepting additional parseable date strings does not break that behavior. Missing, future, and unparseable dates already suppress the badge, as covered by the focused tests. Strict format validation would add a separate metadata constraint to this display fix; the manifest also deliberately uses Date.parse for updatedAt.

@Yash-Singh1 Agreed. Accepting additional parseable date formats does not break the seven-day badge window. The supplied code already suppresses the badge for missing, future, and unparseable dates.

My finding imposed a stricter metadata constraint without showing a defect in this display fix. I withdraw it. No parser change is needed.

Use a fresh Claude catalog for badge-bearing provider reads.

BUNDLED_CLAUDE_MODEL_CATALOG is computed only once. The provider status and pending-provider paths use it as their default and can retain a model's "new" badge after seven days. Use resolveClaudeModelCatalog(undefined) for these defaults.
