Problem

Adding MiniMax Code and choosing Sign in always started the CLI's default regional login, which opens agent.minimaxi.com for a fresh account. Global accounts had no sign-in choice in the existing provider flow.

Change

Expose Global and Mainland China variants of MiniMax Code's advertised terminal login method. Global is first; each choice passes the CLI's explicit region flag. The original method ID remains available for existing settings, and upstream region-aware methods pass through unchanged.

Scope and approval

Fixes #17601

Triaged bug via the automated issue flow: GitCafe mirror #17601.

Verification

  • Reproduced in the real Linux web dev app with isolated seeded state: Settings → Providers → Add provider → MiniMax Code v0.2.7 → Sign in opened the Mainland login URL. Cancelled without entering credentials.
  • Red first: the new auth regression test failed because no Global method was advertised. After the fix, all 56 scoped ACP Registry server tests passed. Targeted lint, package typecheck (existing advisory suggestions only), and Knip files/dependencies checks passed.
  • Two independent code reviews returned MERGE; the repaired proof audit returned SUFFICIENT, verifying all 56 artifact hashes and 16 difference maps. Real-app default and explicit Global reached agent.minimax.io/login; explicit Mainland reached agent.minimaxi.com/login. Cancellation returned to the sign-in controls. No login was completed.
  • Fixture: scripts/fixtures/minimax-auth.mjs, registered as a manual Knip entry; idempotence and refusal to seed a running isolated server verified. The VM's disposable MiniMax native dependency was rebuilt for its provider runtime; no dependency change ships in this PR.

Evidence uses Chrome 154 on Linux, DPR 2, font scale 16px. CSS viewports are 1440×900 and 390×844, light/dark. The preview exports desktop stills at 1280×800 and narrow stills at 780×1688. Production captures compare 2c8bdf6177 with 2c4e7e7376; 19ed78b6c9 adds only the fixture script; cf6128a332 adjusts its imports. Current main (52bb5c8c4e) was merged without changing the production fix, and all 56 scoped tests passed again.

Visible incidental differences: status ages, focus/hover, popup shadows, scroll position, and anti-aliasing. Earlier journey recordings contain disposable provider cards and differing sidebar widths; final Settings still pairs have matching three-provider fixtures and 256px sidebars. Base may show Retry sign-in after cancellation while head shows Sign in. No claim that nothing else changed is made.

Unverified: native mobile, macOS Electron external-browser handoff, and successful account login. The Mainland endpoint was observed at 390px; its external form eventually rendered with missing-glyph labels, so form readability remains unverified. Responsive web captures are not native-mobile proof. Local direct connection was exercised; transport code is unchanged.

Approvability

Verdict: Needs Human Approval

Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This changes production ACP authentication by adding regional MiniMax sign-in behavior and making Global the default method when no method is configured. The authentication path also has an unresolved concern about applying regional arguments to unrelated agents that reuse the same method ID.

You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Learn more.

Confirmed: Global is the fallback when no sign-in method is selected or configured; the existing method ID explicitly selects Mainland China. This fixes the reproduced regional sign-in bug. The human-review routing remains applicable.

📝 Walkthrough

MiniMax Code authentication now advertises Global and Mainland China login methods when no region argument is present. Selecting the Global method starts login with --region global. A fixture script seeds MiniMax Code settings in an isolated home.

Changes: MiniMax Code regional sign-in

Region-aware method discovery and login
packages/provider-acp-registry/src/server/minimaxCodeAcp.ts, packages/provider-acp-registry/src/server/auth.ts, packages/provider-acp-registry/src/server/auth.test.ts
The registry adds Global and Mainland China variants when the existing MiniMax Code terminal login has no region argument. Discovery and authentication use the transformed methods. The test checks the Global method and --region global terminal argument.
Isolated authentication fixture
scripts/fixtures/minimax-auth.mjs, knip.jsonc
The script requires an isolated T3 home, rejects paths that alias the live home or settings file, and refuses to seed settings while the isolated server process is running. It writes enabled MiniMax Code settings without credentials. Knip lists the script as an entry.

A different ACP agent using MiniMax’s login method ID could receive unsupported region arguments. No affected agent is known, so this is a bounded compatibility risk rather than a demonstrated sign-in failure.

Explanation

The description includes all required sections. It explains the problem, change, scope, approval, verification results, evidence, limitations, and agent details. It also provides UI screenshots and recordings as required.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Issue #17601 requires a Global sign-in path and an explicit Mainland alternative. withMinimaxCodeRegions advertises Global first with ID minimax-code-login:global and --region global, while it preserves minimax-code-login for Mainland China with --region cn. auth.ts applies the same mapping during discovery and authentication. The test summary verifies method ordering and Global arguments. The API-key path is an alternative issue outcome, not an additional requirement.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The production changes are limited to ACP Registry MiniMax authentication discovery and execution. The regression test covers the issue behavior. The fixture hardening and its Knip entry support isolated verification and prevent writes to live settings. No unrelated product behavior or dependency change is shown. The repository diff was unavailable, so this conclusion uses the supplied change summary and inspected file contents.

  • fix(scripts): MiniMax auth fixture refuses a symlinked live T3 homea85d44a

CodeRabbit findings: the fixture guard now canonicalizes both paths before creating directories in a85d44a876. A fresh audit reproduced the old settings overwrite and verified that symlinked live homes, aliases, and a missing live home are refused without modifying a JSON sentinel. Normal isolated seeding remains idempotent. The method-ID match is intentional: minimax-code-login is the MiniMax-specific terminal method, and matching it also supports locally installed MiniMax under a different registry entry. No supported non-MiniMax collision was identified; adding a registry-ID restriction would exclude that existing path.

  • fix(scripts): MiniMax auth fixture refuses a symlink to the live settingsdd61206

Fixed the settings-destination alias finding in dd61206eca. The fixture compares canonical settings destinations before creating directories or reading files. Temporary-home reproductions showed both userdata-directory and settings-file symlinks overwriting the sentinel before the fix; both now refuse and preserve it. The original live-base guard, normal idempotent seeding, and preservation of unrelated settings also pass. No production code changed.
