Re-check linkFence when resolving stored links.

resolve validates the peer identity but not peer.capabilities.linkFence. PeerMcpClient then uses the returned token to open or reuse an MCP session. A link created by the preceding peer-links version can therefore remain usable without the new fence requirement.

Require linkFence === true during resolve, and reject the link when the peer does not advertise it so the link must be renewed.

Fixed in e0dec1dab6. resolve now reads the fence from the same descriptor it uses to prove the peer's identity, and refuses a peer that doesn't advertise mcpModeLimitHeader and linkFence, before the token is sent. The agent hears capability_denied with "Update it, then link again." This covers a link made before the fence and a peer moved back to an older version. The test makes a link, has the peer stop advertising the fence, and checks the call is refused with no bearer sent; it fails with the check removed.

@juliusmarminge The supplied code addresses this finding. resolve checks both capabilities on the descriptor used to verify the peer’s identity. If either capability is missing, it rejects the link before returning the token for forwarding.

Fail closed when the thread projection cannot be read.

If getThreadShell fails, Effect.orElseSucceed(() => null) treats the thread as unstamped. runForThread can then open a terminal and run the project script for linked work. Map the read failure to a structured runner error and stop before script execution. As per coding guidelines, β€œMap each failure where its context is known; don't wrap a whole pipeline in one generic error.”

Fixed. runForThread now maps a failed thread read to ProjectSetupScriptOperationError (readThread) and runs nothing. Tested.

@juliusmarminge, thanks. The updated code maps thread-read failures to ProjectSetupScriptOperationError (readThread) and stops before opening a terminal.

Existing links still return their pre-upgrade token after the peer advertises linkFence, so forwarded writes can bypass the fence and modify the user's threads or projects. fenced checks only the peer's current capabilities; it does not establish that the stored credential was issued with the software_id marker. Require re-pairing or otherwise invalidate legacy credentials before returning them.

Fixed in 4550254eb5. Each stored link now records whether its session was issued as a link (migration 064 adds a fenced column, set to 1 by link). A row without it, from before links were marked, is refused before its token is sent: "The link to Box was made by an older T3 Code. Link it again with a new pairing code from Box." The capability check stays as a second guard. The test marks a stored link unfenced, checks the call is refused with no bearer sent, then links again and checks it works; it fails with the guard removed.
