🟡 Medium settings/SettingsPanels.tsx:2228

Selecting a non-off scope in a mixed-environment selection resets every target's inactivity duration to the representative environment's autoSettleAfterDays. Because updateSettings fans out this two-key patch, targets configured for different durations (for example, 3 and 30 days) all become 3 days even though only the scope changed. Preserve each target's existing duration when updating the scope, enabling the default duration only for targets that were previously off.

Note

Opus 5.5 responding on behalf of @tris203

Confirmed and fixed in 78b458f538. Picking a scope no longer writes the representative environment's duration to every target: when all selected targets already have inactivity on, the patch carries only sidebarAutoSettleScope, so 3 and 30 days stay 3 and 30. A duration is still written when the selection includes a target with inactivity off, because one patch fans out to all targets and those targets need a duration to turn on; that matches how the previous on/off switch behaved.

error.message may contain arbitrary command output, URLs, or credentials; avoid copying it into log annotations. Please record a bounded failure category instead, retaining the underlying failure as a cause if it is propagated.

Suggested fix: no diff (the normalized category depends on the underlying error type).

Not changing this here. RunFinalizationService.ts is not part of this PR: after the rebase onto current main the diff does not touch the file, and the detail: error.message annotation is existing code on main. The comment was anchored on a diff against an older base.

Preserve scope mismatches across mixed-capability servers.

When the primary lacks scope support, findSharedSettingsMismatches removes the primary scope and then removes the target scope with the primary capabilities. A capable target set to "without-pr" can therefore appear synchronized with a legacy primary whose effective scope is "all".

Normalize the primary scope to "all" and filter actual with the target capabilities. This affects mismatch reporting only; the separate auto-settle sync path already handles this case.

Opus 5.5 responding on behalf of @tris203

Not changing this here. findSharedSettingsMismatches has no callers outside sharedSettings.test.ts, on this branch or on main, so no client reports a mismatch from it and the mixed-capability case described cannot be reached. This PR only widens its capability type so the shared filterSharedServerPatch signature still fits. The paths that do run handle a legacy server: filterSharedServerPatch strips sidebarAutoSettleScope from writes to servers without threadAutoSettlementScope, and the mobile sync planner treats a legacy reference as "all".

Pass the scope to the branch-refresh decision.

When "without-pr" is selected, settleThread applies the scope here, but wouldSettle omits it at Line 461. For a legacy-linked thread with a terminal PR older than the user's last action, wouldSettle can predict inactivity settlement and call git.branchPullRequest with refresh: true. The final decision then rejects settlement because the thread has a PR reference. Each sweep can repeat the unnecessary Git lookup. Pass the resolved scope into wouldSettle so both decisions use the same rule.

🟡 Medium orchestration-v2/ThreadSettlementService.ts:202

autoSettleScope: "without-pr" settles a thread for inactivity even when its branch already has a pull request, if that PR has not yet been persisted in thread.branchPullRequest. The first projection-backed call passes pullRequest: null, so this check sees no PR and settles before the later branch PR lookup; perform that lookup before resolving settlement or pass its result into this check.

Note

Claude responding on behalf of @tris203

Confirmed and fixed in 5ab9f77ec4. The first, projection-only pass could settle a thread on a branch before its pull request had been synced to branchPullRequest, for example a PR opened while the server was stopped. Under the without-pr scope those threads now wait for the sweep's existing branch lookup, and a pull request it returns counts as having a PR. The all scope is unchanged and still decides from the projection alone. Covered by a new resolveAutoSettlementAt case and an unsynced-branch thread in the worker test; both fail without the change.

Preserve each enabled target’s inactivity duration.

When the representative target is off, selecting a scope includes sidebarAutoSettleAfterDays: AUTO_SETTLE_DEFAULT_DAYS in the patch. For environment and all-target scopes, planScopedSettingsPatch sends that same serverPatch to every connected environment. An enabled target configured for 14 days can therefore be changed to the 3-day default.

Update only off targets’ durations, or preserve each target’s existing duration.

Keeping this as is. The duration is only written when the selection includes a target with inactivity off; when every selected target already has it on, the patch carries just sidebarAutoSettleScope and each target keeps its own duration (78b458f538, covering the earlier finding on this row).

The remaining case matches what main does today: the "Auto-settle inactive threads" switch calls updateSettings({ sidebarAutoSettleAfterDays: checked ? AUTO_SETTLE_DEFAULT_DAYS : null }), and that one patch fans out to every selected environment, so turning it on across a mixed selection already writes one duration to all of them. Writing a different patch per target would mean changing planScopedSettingsPatch for every scoped setting, which is a separate change from adding the scope option.

Fixed in 6affdeb5ef. A scope change now plans per target: targets with inactivity on keep their own duration, and only targets that were off get the default. Mobile uses the same rule, with tests for mixed durations and off targets at environment and project scope.

No longer applies. c62a094a7a replaces the select with a switch that writes only sidebarAutoSettleScope, so no target's duration is rewritten.

A mixed selection with a legacy reference environment displays capable targets set to "without-pr" as All threads and offers no “Across environments” correction. Because supportsScope is taken from the reference at line 119, planAutoSettleSettingsSync skips sidebarAutoSettleScope entirely when that reference lacks the capability, hiding the mismatch and leaving PR-skipping enabled until the user manually selects All threads. The planner should compare scope for capable targets independently of the legacy reference.

Confirmed and fixed in 78b458f538. A reference environment without scope support settles every thread, so planAutoSettleSettingsSync now treats it as "all" instead of dropping scope from the comparison. A capable target set to without-pr shows up under "Across environments", and applying the defaults sets it to all; the write planner already strips the key for targets that do not support it. The planner test covers the legacy-reference case.

orchestration-v2/ThreadSettlementService.ts:336

Cause.pretty(cause) can include raw command output, URLs, or credential-bearing defect messages in log annotations. Please log a bounded failure category here and in the other sweep-failure handlers below, retaining the cause only in the Effect failure channel where needed.

Suggested fix: no diff (the logging policy needs coordinated changes across multiple handlers).

Note

Opus 5.5 responding on behalf of @tris203

Not changing this here. The Cause.pretty(cause) annotations in the sweep-failure handlers are already on main (four call sites in ThreadSettlementService.ts) and this PR does not add or modify any of them; its changes to this file are the autoSettleScope / pullRequestLookupPending inputs and the settings key. The comment was anchored on a diff against an older base. Reworking the logging policy across those handlers is a separate change from PR-aware inactivity settlement.
