Pooled Limits bars showed remaining quota without the per-account even-pace reference already available in individual bars. This adds that mark and its text description to web/desktop and mobile, using the same shared calculation. Missing timing data omits the mark. Existing quota and countdown wording stays together before the new accessible pace description.

The takeover merges current main and clips labels separately from the overhanging ticks, including shrinking countdown badges in dense pools. Main’s partial refill hatching is preserved. Credit to @flamboh for the original design and implementation in #14477.

Verification: 167 focused usage tests across 12 files and 9 browser tests across the pooled/refresh suites pass; the existing countdown locator explicitly permits additional accessible information, with no new browser cases. Changed-file lint/format and shared, web, and mobile typechecks pass. The shared suite grows from 56 to 57 cases: two existing helper assertions become five, plus one boundary case. With actual main’s helper source, the three helper cases fail because the helper is absent; the other 54 pass. This is helper coverage, not a rendered-UI regression test.

Live proof uses the actual isolated web app and synthetic two-account and twelve-account CLIProxy data, at 1280×800 and 390×844. Confirmed tick overhang, clipped dense labels, two-digit compact indices, accessible descriptions, the Even pace detail row, and no horizontal page overflow. Before images use actual merged main source with matching data and viewport; the reset countdown advances between captures. The Linux browser had no working fallback glyph metrics, so all captures use the same test-tab DejaVu font substitution; no product font was changed. The real-data dev snapshot was migration-incompatible, so this uses fresh isolated state. No macOS, Windows, native iOS/Android, or Electron shell verification; those remain human checks.

Tailwind at the owner: move the static dashed backgroundImage into a Tailwind class; keep only the runtime left value in style.

Note

🤖 Claude Opus 5.5 on behalf of Oliver

Tried this, but the repo lint rejects it: shadcn(no-arbitrary-values): "bg-[repeating-linear-gradient(...)]" hardcodes an off-token value. A named utility for one mark would add CSS machinery for a single use, so the static gradient stays in style next to the runtime left, like the hatching above it.

Approvability

Verdict: Approved at ec841b3

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a bounded usage-interface enhancement that adds pace markers and explanatory text to existing web and mobile limit bars. The calculation is pure and tested, and the PR does not change quota logic, defaults, schemas, workflows, or production infrastructure.

📝 Walkthrough

A shared helper calculates the percentage of a usage window remaining at an even pace. Mobile and web usage views use it for window markers, pooled segment indicators, accessibility labels, and account details.

Changes: Usage pace

Layer / File(s)Summary
Shared pace calculation
packages/shared/src/usageLimits.ts, packages/shared/src/usageLimits.test.ts
The shared package adds paceRemainingPercent. It returns the rounded remaining percentage or null when elapsed share is unavailable. Tests cover a sample window, missing window data, and values before and after the window.
Usage window markers
apps/mobile/src/features/usage/UsageLimitsSection.tsx, apps/web/src/components/usage/UsageLimits.tsx
Mobile and web usage windows use paceRemainingPercent to calculate the time-left marker.
Pooled usage pace displays
apps/mobile/src/features/usage/UsageLimitsPooled.tsx, apps/web/src/components/usage/UsageLimitsPooled.tsx, apps/web/src/components/usage/UsagePage.refresh.browser.test.tsx
Pooled segments display a pace marker and include the percentage in accessibility labels when available. The web popover and mobile account details display the even-pace percentage when available. Segment fills and overlays render inside clipped containers. The browser test matches countdown text within a button name.

Match the reset countdown as a bounded segment.

exact: false uses substring matching. A button whose accessible name contains resets in 12h 0m also matches resetsIn("2h 0m"). The test can therefore miss a changed countdown. Match the countdown through its following comma or the end of the accessible name so the appended pace label remains allowed.

This is a false positive for the current helper. The substring includes the entire codex: 60% left, resets in prefix. Therefore codex: 60% left, resets in 12h 0m does not contain codex: 60% left, resets in 2h 0m; the inserted 1 breaks the match. The existing negative assertion for the old 2h 0m countdown remains effective when it changes to 1h 30m. Verified both strings directly and ran all 9 pooled/refresh browser cases with the default Vitest settings. Keeping the focused matcher rather than adding a regex for a non-reproducible example.

@juliusmarminge You’re right. I overlooked the full prefix in the matcher. codex: 60% left, resets in 12h 0m does not contain codex: 60% left, resets in 2h 0m.

The negative assertion remains effective for the change to 1h 30m. I withdraw this finding. No regex change is needed. Thanks for the clarification.

5Learning: In apps/web/src/components/usage/UsagePage.refresh.browser.test.tsx, the resetsIn helper matches the full string `codex: 60% left, resets in ${countdown}` with exact: false. Evaluate substring collisions against the complete matcher, not the countdown alone: the full matcher for `2h 0m` does not match a name containing `resets in 12h 0m`. Appended pace text does not invalidate the negative assertion for the old countdown.
