Require a concrete checkout for Actions. A project scope without search.checkout can render editable actions when it has one checkout. An all-environments scope renders editable ProjectDefaultActionsSettings. Guard /settings/actions before these paths and show a checkout-selection notice instead.

These are two intentional action scopes. Environment/All environments edits defaultProjectScripts, inherited by projects (ProjectDefaultActionsSettings.tsx:23-49; docs/user/project-settings.md:32-34). Project action overrides require exactly one resolved checkout, not necessarily an explicit checkout query parameter: ProjectSettingsPanel filters the selected members, passes only that selectedCheckout to the script hook, and for multiple members provides no write targets and shows the checkout chooser. A one-member project is already unambiguous. Guarding the entire route on search.checkout would remove environment defaults and force redundant selection. I clarified the PR description, whose original wording conflated defaults and overrides. No code change needed.

C
coderabbitaiBotSep 8, 2026

@juliusmarminge, thanks for the clarification. The route supports two intentional Actions scopes:

 • Environment and all-environments scopes edit inherited defaultProjectScripts.
 • A project scope edits an override only when it resolves to one checkout.

ProjectSettingsPanel prevents writes for multi-checkout project scopes and shows the checkout chooser. A route-level search.checkout guard would block valid environment-default edits and add an unnecessary selection for a one-member project.

I withdraw this finding.

5Learning: For the Actions settings route, `ProjectDefaultActionsSettings.tsx` intentionally edits environment or all-environments `defaultProjectScripts`, which projects inherit. Project action overrides in `apps/web/src/components/settings/ProjectSettingsPanel.tsx` require exactly one resolved checkout, but do not require an explicit `search.checkout` query parameter: a one-member project is unambiguous, while multi-checkout projects expose no write targets and show a checkout chooser.

Shared primitives rule: this overrides Button’s height at the call site. Add a multiline option or variant in ui/Button and use it here.

Suggested fix: No diff β€” the appropriate fix requires extending the shared Button primitive.

Fixed in ca6d71e3ebf with a shared sm-multiline Button size. It uses minimum height and wrapping instead of overriding fixed height at the call site, including the desktop breakpoint. Inspected the actual checkout-choice notice at 900px: both long paths wrap within their buttons without clipping. Web typecheck and focused lint pass.

getSettingsSearchTargetScope returns null for normal hash navigation because SettingsScopeBoundary passes values such as #time-format, while the catalog contains bare IDs such as time-format. getSettingsSearchTargetScope is called with the raw router hash (for example "#time-format"), while the search catalog only matches bare IDs such as "time-format". SettingsPageContainer explicitly strips the leading # before using the same target IDs. Thus searchTarget is always null for normal hash navigation and the new scope boundary never offers the owning-scope chooser when a search target is unavailable at the current scope.

Verified against the installed TanStack router and the actual browser flow: useLocation returns ParsedLocation.hash, which excludes the leading #. router-core declares that contract in src/location.ts and parseLocation strips the prefix. An initial URL ending #time-format produces router hash time-format. The navigation regression covers that parsed value, and the project-scoped Time format search correctly displays the owning-scope chooser. No normalization change is needed.

On the default /settings/general URL, the sidebar shows device-only sections such as confirmations and omits project-defaults, even though GeneralSettingsPanel renders the all-environments layout. Those links target anchors that do not exist and the sidebar does not represent the visible page. settingsPageSections gets device from settingsScopeKindFromSearch for an empty search, while the scope resolver treats the same search as all; align this classification so an empty search produces the same sections as the rendered panel.

Verified the actual Settings route path: SettingsLayout normalizes empty validated search to {scope: device} before passing it to SettingsScopeProvider. The provider resolves that explicit value, and GeneralSettingsPanel reads the context. The raw resolver empty-input fallback is therefore not reached for /settings/general with no query. The sidebar uses the same device default. Existing regressions compare implicit/explicit device sections and separately cover explicit all; all 60 focused search/scope tests pass. No behavior change needed.

@juliusmarminge, confirmed. The fallback prevents null in the checkout label and preserves the project name and workspace path. The reported validation is sufficient.

@juliusmarminge Thanks for confirming the fix. I couldn't resolve this review thread on the repository platform, so it remains open. Please retry or resolve it manually.

A completed save can close a different editor than the one it started from: after the original dialog is closed and another script is opened, the awaited onSubmit success at line 240 still calls onClose() and closes the newly opened editor. Because the form remains enabled while the first save is pending, users can trigger this race with another save; associate the result with the initiating request and ignore stale completions, while disabling submission during the pending save.

Fixed in c4857c5fcb. Each submit has an identity token invalidated on request replacement, cancel, or unmount; stale successes and failures cannot close or alter a later editor or release its pending save. Duplicate submits are blocked and editable fields disable during the current save. Seven deferred-completion regression tests cover replacement, success/failure/rejection, retry, cancel, and unmount; all pass in the 155-test integrated run, with web typecheck passing.

The settings search exposes auto-settlement results whenever any environment supports it, so mixed-capability scopes can navigate to hash targets that SettingsPanels does not render. Align this availability check with the panel by requiring every connected environment to advertise the capability.

Fixed in 8f943f879a4. Global discovery still includes auto-settlement when at least one connected, loaded environment supports it; requiring every environment globally would incorrectly hide valid named-environment settings. The selected-target check now matches the panel, and incompatible scopes receive an owning-environment chooser filtered to connected capable targets. The searched anchor is passed through and consumed after scrolling. Tests cover mixed capabilities, named targets, device/project scopes, offline/loading targets, and no eligible connections. All 172 focused tests and web typecheck pass; the actual browser handoff from device to a capable named environment opens the auto-settle row.

🟑 Medium settings/ProjectSettingSource.logic.ts:47

When repositoryResolved is true and environmentDefault is undefined, this returns { value: undefined, source: "Environment default" }. The caller therefore keeps rendering Loading workspace default… and From <environment> after resolution, falsely implying that an environment default exists. Return an unavailable source (and have the caller render that state rather than loading) when environmentDefault is undefined.

Fixed in ca6d71e3ebf. A settled repository lookup without project, repository, or environment defaults now reports Unavailable; the row renders that state instead of Loading. The inherit option also reads the selected server configuration directly so it cannot invent a Local fallback. Regression tests cover missing configuration, subsequent availability, and preserved project/t3.json precedence. All 158 focused tests and web typecheck pass.
