Claude text generation ignores --settings launch args#25017
Claude text generation (thread titles, branch names, commit messages, PR descriptions) ignores the Claude instance's launch arguments, including --settings.
ClaudeTextGeneration builds its own argv and its own --settings JSON and never reads launchArgs (ClaudeTextGeneration.ts). After #22864, a per-instance --settings '{"env":{"ANTHROPIC_VERTEX_PROJECT_ID":"..."}}' applies to conversation turns, but text generation still uses the project from ~/.claude/settings.json. Reported in this comment on #15073.
Open questions for the fix:
- Which launch args should text generation honor?
--settingsis the clear one. Most others (permission mode, system prompt) do not fit a one-shot JSON call. - Title generation runs in a temp directory, so a relative
--settingspath needs the thread cwd. - T3's own text-generation keys (
disableAllHooks, thinking, fast mode) should still win on conflict, like the adapter.
Workaround: point the instance's binary path at a wrapper that merges your keys into T3's --settings value.
