Closes: https://github.com/pingdotgg/t3code/issues/28160

What's fixed: Horizontal scrolling in diff and file viewers could navigate between threads at a boundary or when the viewport disappeared before gesture classification. The renderer records content ownership on the first moving wheel and recognizes new scrollers under a stationary pointer, including after history navigation. Content retains ownership until pointer movement or a nonmodifier key, even after removal; history swipes can reverse past their start into the opposite direction.

Evidence: Production verification at 21015dd7074eeb019f03da6fd0a9181fe389acf6 passed on macOS and Linux.

macOS before: outward boundary scrolling navigates away. The affected component and native gesture handling are unchanged on current main.

https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/2d2d170b-d6d6-4b65-80fa-bf82bfb5de3c

macOS after: controlled viewport removal during scrolling retains the thread, then back and forward recover.

https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/ba2d7789-d5f9-4b2c-aef4-8e501b10ded8

macOS after: clone replacement retains the thread, then back and forward recover.

https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/f10e8722-1b37-461f-a541-ae944f7c70d1

Linux after: removal, replacement, keyboard-close and stationary-pointer recovery retain the intended thread.

https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/14e6c244-f6c3-4577-a6a8-52710c9cd034

Current-head recordings and command output: macOS, Linux. Both focused test files pass 39/39 on each machine; changed-file checks pass on corex.

Not shown: physical trackpad input, native BrowserWindow swipe, spontaneous React remounts, signed release packages or Windows. Controlled removal and clone replacement use Chromium input in the production Electron app. After passive removal, history at the same point stays suppressed until pointer movement or a nonmodifier key. The same leaf gaining overflow during an active history swipe remains history.

Builds on https://github.com/pingdotgg/t3code/pull/28091; Maria's remount-path line is credited in the commit.

Walkthrough

The history swipe handler now tracks gesture origins and pointer context, recognizes horizontally overflowing scrollers, and updates swipe release and reversal behavior. Browser tests cover scroller interactions, gesture changes, dialogs, and back or forward navigation.

Changes: History swipe navigation

Layer / File(s)Summary
Scroller ownership and gesture setup
apps/web/src/components/HistorySwipeNavigation.tsx, apps/web/src/components/HistorySwipeNavigation.browser.test.tsx
The handler recognizes horizontally overflowing auto or scroll elements regardless of scroll position or swipe direction, and records the event target as the gesture origin. The browser test helper sets up light-DOM or shadow-DOM panels, scrollers, and dialogs.
Gesture context and lifecycle
apps/web/src/components/HistorySwipeNavigation.tsx
The handler tracks pointer position and whether content claimed the gesture. Pointer movement and non-modifier key presses reset context. Scroll-begin and scroll-end events update gesture state.
Wheel tracking and navigation validation
apps/web/src/components/HistorySwipeNavigation.tsx, apps/web/src/components/HistorySwipeNavigation.browser.test.tsx
Wheel input can release or reverse a tracking swipe, and a released swipe retains its origin. Browser tests simulate bridge events and check history.back() and history.forward() calls across the gesture scenarios.

Merge Risk: External image Low · up to 21015

After scrolling content, a history swipe at the same pointer position may be ignored until the pointer moves or a nonmodifier key is pressed. The workaround is simple, so this is a bounded merge risk.

Explanation

The description explains the problem, the implementation, linked issue, verification results, evidence, and untested scope. It is mostly complete, although it does not use the template section headings or explicitly document maintainer approval.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

[#28160] The change prevents horizontal content scrolling from triggering history navigation. isInHorizontalScroller detects horizontal overflow through the composed event path, including shadow-root content, without checking the current scroll boundary. The pending gesture claims content before axis locking, so edge scrolling remains content-owned. The code retains that ownership after removal and recognizes new scrollers under a stationary pointer. It also handles delayed native scroll-begin events and gesture reversal. The expanded browser tests cover diff-like scrollers, light DOM and shadow DOM, both boundaries, removal, replacement, stationary-pointer recovery, delayed events, and history navigation. The reported focused tests pass 39/39. Closed issue #28023 does not add a coding requirement.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The whole-PR diff changes HistorySwipeNavigation.tsx and its focused browser test. The source changes only classify content-owned horizontal wheel gestures and preserve history-swipe state. The test changes exercise those same cases. No unrelated setting, navigation feature, or product area appears in the reviewed diff.

Record scroller ownership before a scroller is removed.

If a small wheel event starts inside an overflowing scroller and that scroller is removed before the axis locks, its saved path no longer proves that it overflowed. An element without a layout box reports zero scrollWidth. If the locking event targets non-overflowing content, this guard permits history navigation. Record whether each pending event belongs to a horizontal scroller while its elements are mounted, and retain that result until axis locking. The current remount test replaces the scroller with another overflowing scroller, so it does not cover this case. (w3.org)

✅ Addressed in commit 0e48fd7

[GPT-6.1 Sol][Codex] on behalf of shivam.

Fixed in 0e48fd7fd52df3e9a842ae319f704d43c3bdd7dd. Pending gestures now yield to a mounted horizontal scroller immediately, so ownership survives its removal before axis lock. The added removal case failed with an unwanted forward navigation before the fix; all 20 focused tests and changed-file checks now pass. Independent review cleared the delta, and the refreshed macOS Electron run passed 13 viewer cases, three chat gestures and both history controls. The PR body links the new recordings; physical trackpad input and actual app removal during a gesture remain unverified.

Preserve scroller ownership until scroll end.

onWheel marks a scroller gesture as ignored, but onTrackpadScrollBegin clears that state. Chromium can dispatch scroll-begin during wheel acknowledgment, so the callback can arrive after the wheel event. If the scroller is then removed, the next wheel events can start a history swipe and navigate away.

Keep the ignored state until onTrackpadScrollEnd, and add a browser test for this ordering.

[GPT-6.1 Sol][Codex] on behalf of shivam.

Fixed in 22ab86de4eefc537d2c728f100b16e1e0f37dff4. A scroller-owned gesture now survives late scroll-begin callbacks until scroll-end. Other ignored input retains its begin reset, so zoom-wheel recovery still works.

The delayed-begin/removal case failed before the fix with unwanted forward navigation. All 23 focused tests and changed-file checks now pass; independent review cleared the delta. The fresh macOS Electron build passed 13 viewer cases, three chat gestures, both history controls and Ctrl-wheel recovery. Its begin IPC arrived after the first wheel in seven viewer cases without losing the route. The PR body links fresh recordings. Physical trackpad input and actual app removal during a gesture remain unverified.

Ignore zero-delta wheels before claiming scroller ownership.

Electron 44.10.0 uses Chromium 152. A touchpad wheel event can have zero deltas, and Chromium skips scroll-begin without an active scroll to end. This handler claims scroller ownership before checking movement, so a later history swipe can remain ignored.

[GPT-6.1 Sol][Codex] on behalf of shivam.

Fixed in 544c8a66c9be42a08df68a6773a16e1acd45ab6b. Zero deltas return only while pending, before scroller ownership, so active tracking still releases on its zero-delta event. The new recovery row failed before the guard and all 25 focused tests now pass, as do changed-file checks. The production macOS renderer also recovered from zero contact on the real diff to a normal chat history swipe without a manual reset. That contact was synthetic and untrusted; physical zero-only input remains unverified. Fresh evidence is in the PR body.

Reset ownership for discrete mouse-wheel sequences.

A nonzero wheel over an overflowing scroller sets scrollerOwned at apps/web/src/components/HistorySwipeNavigation.tsx:121-126. Electron can deliver this input as mouseWheel, but apps/desktop/src/window/DesktopWindow.ts:662-667 forwards only gestureScrollBegin and gestureScrollEnd. If no end is emitted, the later history swipe's begin does not clear scrollerOwned, so its wheel events are ignored. The existing end callback still recovers when gestureScrollEnd is available.

Add a discrete mouse-wheel sequence reset in the bridge without clearing scrollerOwned unconditionally on onTrackpadScrollBegin; that preserves late-begin scroller protection and recovery.

[GPT-6.1 Sol][Codex] on behalf of shivam.

The ordinary discrete-wheel case already gets a synthesized end in Chromium 152. On macOS, RouteOrProcessWheelEvent calls AddPhaseIfNeededAndScheduleEndEvent. Its phase-less branch supplies phaseBegan and schedules a synthetic wheel end. MouseWheelEventQueue sends the gesture begin for nonzero movement and the gesture end when that phase ends. DesktopWindow already forwards that end to clear ownership.

So observing mouseWheel as the original input type does not establish a missing gestureScrollEnd. I am leaving the bridge unchanged and resolving this finding based on the version-matched event path. This is source verification; physical discrete-wheel input remains unverified.

Verification follow-up. This PR remains a draft. The unpublished candidate 8a986017d8371d35d953c32a79834a15cfd703af, tree a506d015428828e7012a7cd073c2a4915e386b16, has better recovery behavior, but its timestamp boundary still has two review findings. No readiness claim applies to this candidate.

Both physical-device runs used fresh unpackaged production Electron 44.10.0 / Chromium 152 builds, isolated fixture state and Chromium-generated wheel gestures. They used unchanged production listeners and actual native begin/end notifications, without manual ownership resets. These are controlled DOM removal and clone replacement, not React remounts or physical trackpad input.

DeviceResult at 8a98601
corex LinuxMiddle scrolling in both directions, both outward edges, removal and replacement before axis lock, and subsequent back/forward recovery all passed. First mutation wheel was 7 px. Route and selected thread were checked.
shiv macOS 27.0.1 arm64Initial removal and replacement retained the thread and recovered both ways. First wheels were 0.787101 and 0.731488 px. A later chat back gesture failed. The saved deltas match main's unchanged momentum heuristic at 55.188401 px, before the 120 px trigger. All its pre-end wheels passed the timestamp cutoff. This does not establish a regression from the candidate. Testing stopped and the failure was preserved.

The timestamp approach is still being corrected. Chromium can flush a pending old end while forwarding a new gesture's first wheel, so that fresh wheel can predate main's end observation. Separately, a recorded old tail was only 0.100098 ms below the exact production cutoff, smaller than the rounded wall-clock uncertainty. No crossing was observed. These findings prevent publishing this candidate as verified.

Linux production recording, including both mutations and their back/forward recoveries. Frames come from Electron WebContents capture, not an attested Cua window recording.

The shiv focused tests and wider final-head viewer/control pass were not run after the failure. Earlier logs in the PR body apply only to their named commits. Unverified here: physical trackpad, native BrowserWindow swipe, actual AppKit quick retouch, busy-renderer ordering, spontaneous React remount, Windows and signed release packaging.

  • fix(desktop): content scroll claims hold until the pointer moves68d89be
  • fix(web): release content scroll claims on explicit interactionffbdbcd
  • fix(web): a wheel at a new pointer position starts a fresh swipe contexte84ad64

[GPT-6.1 Sol][Codex] on behalf of shivam.

The latest local candidate is e84ad644120b90c929308c7c8544a17df891de40 (unpublished). Independent review is clear. The PR remains a draft while new desktop recordings run.

A physical corex production run at ffbdbcdac8ed926d4933489f4cf5c5aca1203bf6 exposed a second stale-wheel case: a chat swipe ended, its trailing wheel restarted history tracking, then a tiny wheel over the diff at a different pointer position skipped the scroller check. Replacing the viewport subsequently navigated away. This recording preserves the failure:

https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/c05b499e-6d17-4280-992d-683305a407e7

The new regression reproduces that ordering and fails before the correction with two forward calls instead of the expected one prior history navigation. The fix resets the entire gesture context when wheel coordinates change, or after pointer movement or a non-modifier key. Stationary content scroll ownership survives native begin/end notifications.

Failing native-shaped regression at ffb

Unproven on e84: integrated production behavior on macOS/Linux, physical trackpad input, native BrowserWindow swipe, spontaneous React remounts, signed packaging and Windows. Earlier candidate recordings are historical evidence only.

[GPT-6.1 Sol][Codex] on behalf of shivam.

Linux production verification at unpublished e84ad644120b90c929308c7c8544a17df891de40, tree 38862f9f693691375d245a8a7d2abce14d500fae, on physical corex with Electron 44.10.0 / Chromium 152. The production build came from Boat job j_2njgqwkedjggehc5mmvo, build stage, default machine, attempt 1, VM bx_jbvcap5j; build exited 0 with 5/5 tasks successful. All 2,363 extracted files matched the build manifest. Isolated fixture/profile; no live data or agent turns.

  • Four middle/edge diff cases passed; middle scrollLeft changed 600→900 and 600→300.
  • Actual CODE removal and clone replacement both started with a 7px wheel before axis lock, retained the selected thread, then recovered history back and forward. Replacement ran directly after the preceding chat-forward gesture that broke the previous build.
  • Actual Ctrl+D closed the panel; history back and forward at the same coordinates passed.
  • Pointer-away-and-back recovery passed once both real pointer events were delivered separately. The first attempt sent both moves in one main-thread task; Chromium combined them into a single return event, so no away event reached the app and suppression correctly remained. That failed attempt is preserved in the first recording and raw result below. The follow-up awaited trusted events at (797,132), then (767,132), before testing both history directions. Source and production listeners were unchanged.

These videos capture Electron WebContents, with automated Chromium scroll input and actual native notifications. They are controlled DOM mutations, not a physical trackpad or spontaneous React remount. macOS verification remains pending; this is not a ready report.

[GPT-6.1 Sol][Codex] on behalf of shivam.

The cancelled macOS run at ffbdbcdac8ed926d4933489f4cf5c5aca1203bf6 preserved a second history-recovery failure. Independent audit confirms that published draft e84ad644120b90c929308c7c8544a17df891de40 still has this case; a correction is in progress. This is not a pass or a ready report.

After keyboard-close, the back swipe navigated successfully. A delayed trusted −23.556px wheel from that gesture arrived after its actual native end and restarted backward tracking. The next forward swipe at the same (800,173) position delivered +900px, with +877.711px before its actual end, yet did not navigate. Forward was available and the path had no horizontal scroller or dialog. The first forward wheel preceded its begin notification. The unchanged pointer position bypasses the new context reset, so positive deltas cancel the stale backward distance instead of starting forward tracking. This is separate from the momentum heuristic.

This historical production recording uses automated Chromium input on physical shiv, not a physical trackpad. The old app/backend and all captured children stopped; the cancelled run has no final result.md, so its saved trace and cleanup files are the evidence. The newer e84 macOS run has been asked to stop; it cannot supply final-candidate proof. Existing Linux e84 recordings remain valid for their observed sequences, but did not trigger this Mac ordering.

  • fix(desktop): a swipe reversed past its start can navigate the other way15160a0
  • test(desktop): preserve early swipe movement and history boundary recoveryfab0a7d

[GPT-6.1 Sol][Codex] on behalf of shivam.

Local candidate fab0a7d4595a10dd2b3b9b42d49ab339732c7c37 (tree db6bebcd290cb853b12f1f0d5ce0d3fa7fdafeb9) corrects the same-position recovery failure. It is not pushed yet; the published PR remains a draft at e84 while fresh production verification runs.

When a tracked swipe reverses past its starting point and history is available in the other direction, it now selects a direction again using the net displacement. The crossing wheel runs through the existing content, axis and dialog checks. This restores the recorded back-to-forward recovery without adding clocks, timers, state flags or IPC rules. It also changes continuous-swipe behavior: a swipe can reverse past its start and travel 120px the other way to navigate in that direction. If that history direction is unavailable, it keeps the previous zero clamp and can resume in the original direction. This behavior change needs the fresh desktop recordings; AppKit equivalence is not claimed.

Independent reviews cleared the source change and the strengthened coverage. The two recorded-sequence cases failed before the correction and all 35 focused tests pass on the exact final head. Two deliberate mutations also fail as expected: dropping the early wheel loses the forward navigation, and removing the boundary guard loses backward recovery. Changed-file checks pass. Runtime verification on this candidate remains pending; prior e84 recordings are historical evidence.

  • fix(desktop): content appearing under a still pointer owns the swipe9220955

[GPT-6.1 Sol][Codex] on behalf of shivam.

Production verification found another content-ownership failure at local candidate fab0a7d4595a10dd2b3b9b42d49ab339732c7c37 (tree db6bebcd290cb853b12f1f0d5ce0d3fa7fdafeb9). The candidate remains unpublished and the PR remains a draft. A focused regression now fails with two forward calls instead of the one preceding history navigation; a correction is in progress.

On physical corex, the compiled Electron app passed 13 initial cases: middle/edge scrolling, controlled CODE removal and clone replacement with subsequent back/forward recovery, and keyboard-close recovery at the same position in both directions. A later same-position content case failed: a trailing +18px wheel after forward navigation reopened history tracking; the diff then appeared under the stationary pointer. Its first wheel reached a connected, horizontally overflowing CODE viewport, but existing tracking skipped the scroller check. Removing that viewport during the scroll then switched to the next thread. The failure occurs before the pointer-away-and-back input, so it is separate from the earlier coalesced input setup problem.

https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/4f6da970-5e2d-4f72-86f1-d0045877680e

This is an unpackaged production Electron 44.10.0 / Chromium 152 build, using isolated fixture data and automated Chromium input with actual native notifications. Boat job j_v6gxeqfcvyvksc3vszgs, build stage, default machine, attempt 1, VM bx_4ystw3hx, completed 5/5 tasks with exit 0. All 2,363 runtime files matched the build manifest. A first setup attempt queried the window before it existed and ran no cases; the subsequent test waited for the seeded sidebar before starting. The recording preserves the actual behavior failure; it was not retried. All captured app/backend processes stopped afterward.

  • fix(desktop): content appearing after a history release can still claim the swipe21015dd

[GPT-6.1 Sol][Codex] on behalf of shivam.

macOS production verification passed at 21015dd7074eeb019f03da6fd0a9181fe389acf6, tree 28e4e93f07a2b6c33bd069a21bc77abb52f68e4b, on physical shiv, arm64 Mac mini, macOS 27.0.1 build 26A434. The fresh unpackaged Electron 44.10.0 / Chromium 152 production build exited 0 with 5/5 tasks successful. Both focused test files passed, 39/39. The saved runtime, source identity and 2,362 unchanged built-file hashes agree with this commit. Isolated fixture data, home, profile and backend state; no live data, Connect login or paid turns.

The independent evidence audit found no new findings. This supplies the previously missing current-head Mac command output and viewport-lifetime recordings. Linux recording, 39 focused tests, changed-file checks, production build output and cleanup proof for the same head are in https://github.com/pingdotgg/t3code/pull/28475#issuecomment-6555415028 .

Actual Changes CODE removal, then ordinary chat back and forward recovery. The first moving wheel reached connected overflowing CODE at 0.699px, below axis lock; all wheels remained at (800,173), and the selected thread stayed unchanged through removal.

https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/ba2d7789-d5f9-4b2c-aef4-8e501b10ded8

Actual Changes CODE clone replacement, then back and forward recovery. The first wheel was 0.871px on the original connected scroller; the replacement was distinct and preserved scrollLeft. The selected thread stayed unchanged.

https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/f10e8722-1b37-461f-a541-ae944f7c70d1

These are native-backed Chromium inputs on a physical Mac, not physical trackpad input or spontaneous React remounts. No DOM wheel injection, manual begin/end notification, production listener wrapper or gesture-state setter was used. Original production listener source/options and built files remained unchanged. Both removal and replacement had actual native begin/end notifications and subsequent matching route/selection recovery.

New content under a stationary pointer and released history gestures

Natural trailing history tracking, followed by new CODE under the same pointer, first tiny wheel, controlled removal and recovery. This reaches the previously failing stationary-target case without an extra trailing wheel.

https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/98dd68d4-5b82-447e-9225-0d49301b10c3

Separately labelled native-backed 18px trailing wheel, new CODE and clone replacement, followed by recovery.

https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/7b9240d4-14b5-4cc5-9274-09e6796ea1fe

A history tracking wheel followed by zero released the gesture. Read-only scopes were still released when CODE appeared. Its first 7px wheel preceded any intervening observed begin/end IPC, then controlled removal retained the selected thread. Later native notifications were real. These phase-less dispatches are separate native gestures, not proof about which physical gesture owns a delayed notification.

Keyboard recovery, pointer recovery and one-gesture reversal

Actual Cmd+D closes the diff after scrolling, then back and forward recover at the exact same (800,173) position with no intervening pointermove or keydown. Both exceed 120px before the unchanged momentum detector can release them.

https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/a22de1e2-599b-4670-861a-b94b7c664cc3

Separate trusted pointer moves away and back release a claim after passive removal, allowing history at the original point.

https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/f70253c3-4e53-4938-8b75-d01c00469e04

One native gesture starts in the back direction, then reverses past its start and navigates forward. Actual signed displacement reaches -60px then +150px, with one native begin and one end. This shows the intentional reversal behavior change.

https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/b0c5a3f8-7a23-414f-8fe1-806f9f329aef

Different-position content after prior history tracking retains the thread through clone replacement.

Diff/file edges, chat, history controls, zoom and zero-contact recovery

Nine cases in each real viewer: middle in both directions, each edge outward/inward, continuous arrival at the left edge, and tiny first events at both edges. Content scrolls when room exists and retains the selected thread.

Zero-contact exclusion and subsequent back/forward recovery.

The final validator passed all 99 evidence assertions. All 19 original MP4s, including preserved setup attempts, passed a strict full decode with empty stderr. The attached clips are the passing behavior cases. A missing Electron executable, task-local Cua launch resolution, popup selection, a file viewport with wrapping still enabled, and overlapping harness control clients each failed before the intended behavior input. Those failures were preserved and corrected as setup problems; no valid behavior failure was retried into a pass. The initial variable-rate null-output decode emitted duplicate-DTS warnings; the stricter timestamp-preserving decode below passed all videos.

The debugger was detached, all five captured app/backend/helper PIDs exited, the temporary app was unregistered, both old cancelled-run app PIDs and current PIDs were checked, and task scratch was removed. No simulator or mobile build was involved. Fun retains the run's original output and evidence manifest.

Unproven: physical trackpad/AppKit phases, native BrowserWindow swipe, attribution of delayed notifications to physical gestures, spontaneous React removal/remount, signed releases and Windows. The same-position policy intentionally suppresses history after passive content disappearance until pointer movement or a nonmodifier key; the tested recovery paths pass. Same-leaf overflow gained during an active history swipe and nonpixel hardware wheel behavior were not separately tested on device.

[GPT-6.1 Sol][Codex] on behalf of shivam.

Linux production verification passed at 21015dd7074eeb019f03da6fd0a9181fe389acf6, tree 28e4e93f07a2b6c33bd069a21bc77abb52f68e4b, on physical corex. The independent R14/R15 review is clear. The PR remains a draft while current-head macOS verification runs.

The fresh Electron 44.10.0 / Chromium 152 production build came from Boat job j_ktxzakylush5xnkghvm7, build stage, default machine, attempt 1, VM bx_pfqsf9vu. vp run build:desktop exited 0 with 5/5 tasks successful. All 2,363 extracted files matched the build manifest. The app used isolated fixture data, profile and backend state. No live data or agent turns.

All 16 integrated checks passed. Middle scrolling moved scrollLeft 600→900 and 600→300; outward edge scrolling retained the thread. Real CODE removal and clone replacement started on a connected overflowing viewport with a 7px wheel below axis lock, kept the same (767,132) coordinates throughout the gesture, and retained the selected thread. Each mutation had one actual native begin/end pair; subsequent history back and forward recovered. Keyboard-close recovery at the same position passed in both directions. New content appearing at the same stationary pointer after the preceding history navigation also claimed its first 7px wheel before removal; moving the pointer away and back then restored history navigation.

The original production wheel listeners remained unchanged. Input is native-backed Chromium automation, not a physical trackpad. Cua could identify the window but returned surface_identity_unproven for its Wayland pixel capture, so the recording uses Electron WebContents capture of the isolated app window. An initial readiness wait timed out before any test because its load-event check missed the ready window; a direct query then verified the loaded main window and seeded sidebar. The behavior test ran once and passed. The MP4 fully decodes. All eight captured app/backend/helper PIDs stopped, the Cua session ended, and the physical host task folder was removed.

39 focused browser/unit tests and the changed-file checks pass on this exact head. The RED logs below show the preceding component failing both newly appearing-content cases. The zero-contact mutation also fails its recovery control.

25- Use build.rolldownOptions.output.codeSplitting to improve chunking: https://rolldown.rs/reference/OutputOptions.codeSplitting
26- Adjust chunk size limit for this warning via build.chunkSizeWarningLimit.

  • the exact pr head keeps the selected thread with the same data, viewport and gesture. horizontal scrolling moves scrollLeft from 0 to 600, reaches the right edge at 2694, and outward scrolling there also retains the thread.
  • ctrl+d closes the diff. back and forward gestures at the same pointer position then navigate successfully.
  • created the local project and threads through the running web app using repo Playwright and /usr/bin/google-chrome. real Codex gpt-6.1-sol turns created and changed wide.txt; additional turns completed through the pr web and desktop clients. no mocks, fixtures, demo provider, fake desktop bridge or manual DOM replacement.
  • started vp run dev in the background on both revisions, stopping main before the pr. the affected component only mounts in Electron, so gesture verification used the actual Electron 44.10.0 client and its backend, built from each exact revision through blacksmith. dev servers were stopped before launching each desktop backend.
  • input: Chromium Input.synthesizeScrollGesture, {x:850,y:200,xDistance:600,yDistance:0,gestureSourceType:"mouse",speed:800}. this is automated input through the real client, not a physical trackpad. both diff viewports measured clientWidth=483, scrollWidth=3177, scrollLeft=0 before the boundary check.
  • blacksmith vp run build:desktop passed. vp run check:changed 7f443ab6359dc3771f2c2fed70ce8a7a659e3c21 passed format, lint, both knip checks, affected typechecks, 39 focused browser/unit tests and the compiler check. worker setup needed libsecret headers, Playwright Chromium and git history before checks could run.

physical trackpad input, macOS native swipe behavior, Windows, native iOS/Android, signed release packages, remote/relay/tunnel connections and other providers. this pass did not reproduce spontaneous React viewport removal/replacement, content appearing under a stationary pointer, or deliberately delayed/reordered native IPC. the focused tests cover those controlled sequences, but this report does not claim real-device verification of them. ordinary web sessions do not mount the changed gesture component.

hosted CI was 32 successful, 0 failing and 1 pending at inspection; the pr remains a draft. this is evidence for the linux scenarios above, not a merge or cross-platform readiness claim.
