a964635Resolved by Julius Marmingefeat(mobile): open threads and devices in a resizable iOS inspector#24985
Problem
On iOS, opening a subagent or simulator takes over the thread instead of keeping it alongside the parent. The native inspector also has no drag control, and sidebar visibility can compete with inspector visibility in landscape.
Change
Open subagent cards, Agents-sheet rows, completion links, workflow members, and device previews in the inspector on supported iOS layouts. Each preview can maximize to a full-screen thread or device and return to the parent inspector. Hidden previews stop rendering their streams.
Start the native inspector at 40% of the viewport and let its left divider resize it, from 260 points up to 60%. Let UIKit fit the columns so the sidebar can be hidden independently. Compact iOS and Android retain their full-screen navigation. No server or wire-contract changes.
Scope and approval
Maintainer-requested work from @juliusmarminge: subagent/device inspection, full-screen transitions, and landscape inspector sizing with independent sidebar visibility.
Verification
Rebased onto 69234b1. All feature commits remain content-equivalent to the device-tested head. Main now handles the simulator runner dependency, so the duplicate script repair was dropped. The inspector’s synchronization effect has its own budget entry; no web-budget entries or web source are changed. The earlier import cycle and media-test navigation/layout mocks are fixed.
vp run check:changedpasses format, lint, knip, affected typechecks, and all 110 tests beside the changes. The focused dependency-graph, media-preview, inspector-navigation, and layout suites pass all 112 tests across four files.- Navigation regressions cover preserving the parent from the Agents sheet, completion links, switching targets, and opening another preview from a maximized child. The new full-screen regressions fail before the fix.
- Native clients use
vp run mobile:install: iPad reused its compatible installed client. The fingerprint was built once, then a separate iPhone Duo installed from the local cache in 36 seconds; a subsequent compatibility check took 5 seconds. The other thread's Duo session was left alone. - iPad Pro 11-inch / iOS 26.5: embedded thread/device previews, 40% initial inspector, divider resizing, independent sidebar visibility, device maximize and revealing controls verified.
- Separate iPhone Duo / iOS 27.1: embedded thread/device previews, divider resizing, device maximize and revealing controls verified. The full-screen reveal handle is now 44 points tall and sits below the system edge; its semantic tap works on both devices.
Remaining failures / verification limits — this is not a clean device pass:
- Folding the Duo while viewing a full-screen device, then closing it, can leave an empty inspector popup on the compact display. Unfolding restores the parent and inspector. This remains unresolved.
- Returning from full-screen device restores the parent, but retaining the inspector was inconsistent in repeated iPad checks.
- The nested thread header's full-screen action remains unverified on device: XCTest reports
NSInternalInconsistencyException/ infinite tap coordinates while that nested native stack is visible. Router tests pass, but do not establish that the actual header tap works. - The preceding head failed Lint and aggregate Check on four unchanged web-budget entries. Main corrected those entries in #25055; rebasing brings that fix into the branch without adding web changes to this PR. The four affected web files now pass focused lint. All 30 checks pass on f4c3a22. The maintainer authorized landing after the device limitations above were disclosed; they remain explicit limitations of this change.

Approvability
Verdict: Needs Human Approval
Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This PR adds a substantial resizable iOS inspector capability with embedded thread/device previews, nested routing, full-screen transitions, and changes across existing navigation and workspace-layout paths. The breadth of stateful runtime behavior, plus a remaining device-selection concern, warrants human validation.

Fixed the parent-route overwrite in 0e463a8. Inspector interception now requires the existing Thread route to match the source environment and thread. Full-screen children and their Agents sheets retain the full-screen fallback. Two new regression cases fail before this fix, and coverage also includes the child Agents sheet. All 22 focused tests and changed-file checks pass. Rebased onto current main and retained both test registrations to resolve the merge conflict.

Walkthrough
This PR adds iOS thread and device previews in the workspace inspector, adjustable inspector width, and full-screen routes. Thread and device navigation entry points can open targets beside the current thread. The changes also update native pane layout, tests, and user documentation.

a964635Resolved by Julius Marmingea964635Resolved by Julius MarmingeThread transfer impact
⚠️ The latest CI run did not produce a thread transfer result for f897c6a.
This comment will update automatically after the next completed run.
Reviewed both CodeRabbit findings against the current head:
- The child-source navigation issue is fixed in 0e463a8. The fallback checks the nearest Thread route against the source. Regression tests cover both direct full-screen child navigation and its Agents sheet; both reproduce the overwrite before the fix.
- The proposed device-key remount addresses a target change that the current entry points cannot produce. Device entry points open the thread without a device key. The only writer of a specific inspector device key is maximizeDevice, which receives the mounted screen’s own selected key and immediately opens full screen. It therefore records the current selection rather than replacing it with a different device. The unfocused inspector returns null, and returning mounts a fresh screen with the recorded key. Keeping the mounted key stable also avoids restarting a live stream just before maximizing it. Resolving this finding as inapplicable to the current transitions.
Local changed-file checks pass with 22 focused tests. CI investigation is ongoing.
Fixed the CI failures in fa4e4ca:
- The inspector now receives its thread renderer from ThreadRouteScreen, removing the circular module import. Its full-screen route lives with the thread screen.
- The existing media suite now supplies the route and workspace-layout mocks needed by linked-thread navigation, so native React Native code is not loaded into the jsdom test.
- Rebased onto main’s existing 94231a0, which fixes the unrelated lint comment without adding a server change to this PR’s diff.
Both mobile failures reproduce before the changes. vp run check:changed passes, and a focused run of dependency-graph, media-preview, inspector-navigation, and layout suites passes all 112 tests. Fresh CI is pending. Direct reads of the two GitHub job logs were authorized after GitCafe’s log endpoint returned HTTP 503.
