Problem

With two accounts for one provider (e.g. two Claude logins with accent badges), the right panel's Lineage list shows every subagent with the same plain provider icon, so you can't tell which account a subagent runs on without hovering. The sidebar, composer and handoff rows already show the account badge. Mobile's Agents sheet has the same gap.

Change

  • Web: ThreadRelationshipIcon now receives providers, derives the instance entry the same way SubagentTooltipContent already does, and shows the compact account badge (as in sidebar rows) when shouldShowInstanceBadge says so. Lineage rows and workflow member rows pass providers. When the badge shows, the status dot moves to the top-left so it doesn't collide with the badge; single-account users see no change.
  • Mobile: SubagentRow renders ProviderInstanceIcon with the badge (same rule) instead of the bare ProviderIcon. ProviderInstanceIcon's surfaceColor is now optional and defaults to a border-screen class, so this row needs no theme-variable escape hatch.
  • The hover cards are unchanged: they keep the accent dot plus account name, matching the sidebar hover card.

No contract, server or adapter change.

Scope and approval

Small obvious-bug fix in the spirit of #5980, #9899 and #15477: an existing display rule (shouldShowInstanceBadge) wasn't applied on one more surface. It adds no configuration or workflow.

Before / after

Real ThreadRelationshipIcon rendered in the web browser test runner (dark theme), with two Claude accounts (C1 yellow, VY red) and running / done / failed statuses:

BeforeAfter
beforeafter

Verification

  • vp run check:changed: format, lint, knip and typecheck of affected packages pass.
  • Visual-only change, so per AGENTS.md the captures above are the proof; no UI test added. They come from a throwaway browser-runner fixture, not a live dev server.
  • Mobile was checked by typecheck and lint only; I didn't run an iOS or Android simulator. Electron wraps web.

Closes #24831. The chat's subagent card has the same gap and is tracked in #24896 (PR #24898).

Walkthrough

Mobile subagent rows and web lineage and workflow rows now display provider instance badges when the matching entry meets the badge rule. Web relationship icons receive provider entries derived from environment providers and settings. Badge eligibility now requires an accent color that normalizes successfully.

Explanation

The changes satisfy the coding requirements in [#24831]. Web lineage and workflow-member rows pass settings-aware provider entries to ThreadRelationshipIcon; the icon applies shouldShowInstanceBadge, renders the compact account badge, and moves the status dot to the top-left when needed. Mobile SubagentRow uses ProviderInstanceIcon with the same badge rule and preserves the provider-icon fallback. The hover-card code is unchanged, and no contract, server, or adapter change is present. The added runtime test covers invalid accent-color handling.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The changed files support [#24831]. The optional mobile surfaceColor with its border-screen default enables the new badge without a theme escape hatch. The accent-color normalization change and its focused test keep the shared badge rule consistent. No unrelated workflow, configuration, server, contract, or adapter behavior is changed. Work for [#24896] remains outside this pull request.

Project the configured ACP identity before evaluating the badge.

When two ACP Registry providers have different configured config.agentId values, this mapping omits both identities. shouldShowInstanceBadge then treats them as the same unavailable identity and renders the badge, although the repository contract hides badges for distinct ACP agents. Include the local-aware configured identity in both the target entry and candidate entries.

Preserve ACP identities before evaluating the badge.

ThreadRelationshipIcon passes unbranded entries to shouldShowInstanceBadge. Missing acpRegistryAgentId does not suppress the badge. It makes distinct ACP entries count as shared, so the icon can show an instance badge for unrelated configured accounts. Apply the existing settings-aware projection before this check.

@coderabbitai Both outside-diff findings are fixed in d92b7b3a93. The web lineage panel now builds settings-aware entries once, with applyProviderInstanceSettings, and passes them to ThreadRelationshipIcon. Mobile SubagentRow projects the configured ACP agentId (and none for local-source configs), the same way thread-handoff-row does. So ACP agents that are actually different no longer count as accounts sharing one driver.

🟠 High chat/ThreadRelationshipsControl.tsx:256

Project-enabled provider accounts are omitted from lineage account badges, so rows show no badge when an unaccented Claude account is enabled only for the project alongside a machine-enabled account. Passing null to applyProviderInstanceSettings ignores project overrides, causing shouldShowInstanceBadge to exclude that enabled account; apply the relevant project settings or retain the snapshot enablement used by deriveProviderEntriesByEnvironment.

No longer relevant as of ee2aa257037fcef53c70510fd45406d45750765f

Fixed in 24bdadd281. The lineage panel now applies only branding from settings and keeps the snapshot's enablement, via a new brandProviderInstanceEntries helper that deriveProviderEntriesByEnvironment also uses now. An account a project turns on still counts as a sibling. Regression test in providerInstances.test.ts.

Sorry, I'm unable to act on this request because you do not have permissions within this repository.

Superseded by ee2aa25703: entries now resolve against the current thread's project, so an account that project turns on counts as a sibling.

Make the branding test exercise ACP agent branding.

Both provider() fixtures default to enabled: true. brandProviderInstanceEntries changes only acpRegistry entries, so the Codex entries pass through unchanged. The badge helper then counts both enabled Codex instances and returns true. The assertion therefore passes even if branding ignores settings. The sibling case is already covered by the environment-derivation test, so this test can check ACP agent IDs instead. Without branding, both ACP entries have no acpRegistryAgentId, so they match and the badge would be true. The corrected test asserts false, which depends on the configured agent IDs.

Use project-scoped provider entries for lineage badges.

ThreadRelationshipsPanel resolves the current project, but providerEntries keeps snapshot enabled values. If the current project disables one of two same-driver instances, shouldShowInstanceBadge can still count both and show an unnecessary badge. Use applyProviderInstanceSettings with currentThread?.projectId ?? null.

Fixed in ee2aa25703: the lineage panel now applies settings for the current thread's project (currentThread?.projectId ?? null), so a project's enables and disables both count. This replaces the snapshot-enablement helper from 24bdadd281, which also covers the earlier Macroscope finding.

@vitalyiegorov The supplied code confirms the fix. providerEntries now uses applyProviderInstanceSettings with currentThread?.projectId ?? null. The fallback remains unchanged when settings are unavailable. This addresses this finding.

External image Minor · Pass the matched ACP Registry metadata to… · ThreadRelationshipIcon.tsx:67-75

apps/web/src/components/chat/ThreadRelationshipIcon.tsx:67-75 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Pass the matched ACP Registry metadata to ProviderInstanceIcon.

Configured ACP Registry entries can store acpRegistryAgentId and acpRegistryIconUrl, but this call forwards only provider?.iconUrl. ServerProvider has no equivalent agentId, and ProviderInstanceIcon uses these fields to resolve the ACP Registry icon. The row can therefore render a generic or incorrect icon when the provider snapshot lacks the configured icon URL.

thanks @vitalyiegorov. your implementation reuses the existing account badges and keeps provider resolution and status indicators intact.

i merged current main into your branch and preserved all six contributor commits. the final diff is five files: i removed the unrelated shared badge-predicate change, normalized mobile accents at the row boundary instead, reused one mobile provider lookup, simplified the optional border color, and forwarded configured acp agent/icon metadata in lineage.

verification at c78cc68736fd90a05e4bf0ad6332c644c3999615:

  • blacksmith vp run check:changed passed format, lint, knip, and affected web/mobile typechecks.
  • 39 existing provider display and badge tests passed through blacksmith.
  • all 31 ci checks passed. two independent gpt-6.1-sol code reviews found no issues; macroscope approved this head.
  • real dev app: two configured codex instances completed hello subagents. lineage showed their amber/violet badges, separate completion dots, correct hover metadata, and working child/parent navigation. inspected light/dark at 1440 and 390 px.
  • unverified: native ios/android rendering, the electron shell, acp runtime rendering, and independently authenticated accounts. the two instances use this vm's existing codex login.

matching captures below use the same persisted provider tasks. before is current main (ed44f251d8); after is this pr's final head. no synthetic projection data or recreated components.

dark, before:

main lineage with two identical plain provider icons

dark, after:

pr lineage with amber and violet account badges and separate completion dots

light, before:

main light theme lineage with plain provider icons

light, after:

pr light theme lineage with amber and violet account badges

sidebar age advanced naturally between captures. sole-account and missing-provider fallback runtime cases remain unverified; existing display helper tests passed.

Verified in a real dev environment

verified as-is at c78cc68736fd90a05e4bf0ad6332c644c3999615 on this linux boat vm. read the diff, description, discussion and commit authors first; the pr is open and contains no commits by juliusmarminge or t3dotgg. git.cafe number is also #24833.

  • installed and ran github/main (feb2e32de6) in ../main first. playwright from the repo dependencies drove /usr/bin/google-chrome, paired with the dev app, added the real t3code git project, and configured amber/violet codex instances through settings.
  • sent a real gpt-6.1-sol turn through the composer. it called t3's delegate_task for both instances; both child threads returned hello. main's lineage rows showed identical plain codex icons, reproducing the bug.
  • stopped main before starting the exact pr head, with an explicit isolated .t3 home. copied the app-created state for matching screenshots. the same lineage rows show the correct amber/violet badges and separate green completion dots.
  • sent another composer turn on the pr, producing two fresh gpt-6.1-sol delegates. both returned hello. hovered violet and saw GPT-6.1-Sol · Violet, completed status and its reply; clicked the lineage row into the child and navigated back to the parent.
  • cleared amber's accent and disabled violet in this project's provider settings. amber's rows correctly returned to plain codex icons with the completion dot at bottom-right. restored the two-instance configuration afterward.
  • blacksmith: 39 existing provider-instance/display tests passed. vp run check:changed ed44f251d89d4dae2f8dcf11c24fb3dec9dda4c7 passed format, lint, both knip passes and typechecks of the 3 affected packages. existing ci reports 31 successful checks. no source changes or pushes were needed.

matching crops from the real app, with the same persisted child threads:

main: violet and amber lineage rows have identical plain codex icons

pr: violet and amber lineage rows show distinct account badges and separate completion dots

recording of the fresh pr tasks, account hover metadata, child navigation and return to parent. inspected the recording, trimmed startup frames, and verified uploaded playback and seeking in t3's browser:

pr: account hover and child-to-parent navigation after real codex turns

Not verified

native ios/android agents-sheet rendering, the electron shell, acp identity/icon behavior, workflow-member rows, and failed/running status-dot appearance were not exercised. the two codex instances share this vm's existing proxy/login, so independently authenticated accounts were not verified. local web was exercised; relay/tunnel and multi-environment connections were not.
