Why the change

OpenCode's upgrade spinner redraws were concatenated into repeated “Upgrading” text; show only the latest frame.

Special things to note

  • Server-side parsing covers web, desktop, and mobile; raw command output remains available for diagnostics.

  • Regression checks every possible chunk boundary in a three-frame ANSI spinner and defers labels ending in incomplete redraw sequences; before: ◒ Upgrading◐ Upgrading.◓ Upgrading.., after: ◓ Upgrading...

  • Validation: vp run check:changed passed, including all 20 provider-maintenance tests.

Approvability

Verdict: Needs Human Approval

Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — The PR makes a focused server-side fix to preserve the latest provider upgrade spinner frame and adds comprehensive chunk-boundary coverage. It also adds a line-level Oxlint suppression for the control-character regex, which requires human review under the repository’s review criteria.

📝 Walkthrough

The installer output parser now converts ANSI cursor-position sequences to carriage returns and ignores progress lines that end with incomplete escape sequences. Tests cover spinner redraws and progress parsing across chunk boundaries.

splitOutputLines converts three ANSI cursor-position sequences to carriage returns. toProgressLine returns null for lines that end with incomplete escape prefixes. Tests check redraws and progress parsing across chunk boundaries.

The upgrade spinner can briefly display an older frame at chunk boundaries; this is a bounded, low-impact UI issue.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title follows the conventional commit format and names the main change: the provider upgrade spinner now keeps only the latest frame. The changeset matches this. The provider maintenance runner normalizes ANSI cursor redraws, selects the latest nonempty frame, and defers labels with incomplete redraw sequences. The title is specific and concise, and it has no vague terms.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description has a Why/Change-style body, but it does not follow the repository template. The template requires Problem, Change, Scope and approval, and Verification sections. The description has no Scope and approval section. It gives no linked triaged issue or maintainer approval, and it does not explain why the fix qualifies without one. The Verification content is partly present: it cites a regression check over every chunk boundary and a passing vp run check:changed with 20 tests. It does not say whether the author used an agent. The description is mostly reasonable, but the missing approval section is a required item.

Resolution

Rename the sections to match the template: Problem, Change, Scope and approval, and Verification. Under Scope and approval, link the triaged bug issue or the maintainer discussion that approves this direction, including the approval comment. If no issue exists, explain why this small, focused fix of an obvious bug qualifies without prior approval. Under Verification, keep the existing test results and state anything that could not be checked. If an agent did the work, add the model and harness name at the end.

Defer progress publication for an incomplete redraw sequence.

If a chunk ends after ESC[, trackProgress calls toProgressLine before the next chunk completes the separator. stripVTControlCharacters leaves this incomplete sequence intact, so the scheduled publisher can expose a label such as ◒ Upgrading[. The test checks only the final frame and misses this inter-chunk publication.
