fix(observability): every exported resource names its service instance#23973
Problem
Without service.instance.id, a restart or a second process of the same service looks like one instance in a backend, and the resources one process exports cannot be joined.
Change
- Every exported resource carries
service.instance.id:- Server and desktop main process: one random id per Node process (
processServiceInstanceIdinpackages/shared/src/observability.ts), shared by all of that process's resources, including the server's relay resources. - UI: one id per page load.
- Mobile: the Expo session id.
- Server and desktop main process: one random id per Node process (
- On the server and desktop, a
service.instance.idinOTEL_RESOURCE_ATTRIBUTESwins. The server relay layers read it from the already-parsedServerConfiginstead of re-parsing the environment.
Verification
observability.test.ts: the id is stable per process and an operator value wins.serverLogger.test.ts: the exported server resource carries the operator id.- Runtime: isolated server exporting OTLP to a local capture endpoint.

Walkthrough
Telemetry resources across desktop, mobile, server, and web now include
service.instance.id. Server and desktop use a shared resolver that honors configured attributes or reuses a process UUID. Mobile uses the Expo session, and web generates a page-load UUID.Changes: Telemetry service instance IDs

Explanation
The description covers the problem, the change, and verification, so it is mostly complete. It does not link a triaged issue or maintainer-approved discussion in the Scope and approval section, which the template requires. The author also left the Problem section as a single sentence that does not state reproduction steps or environment, though the template asks for them where relevant. Those gaps are non-critical for this check. The verification section is concrete: it names the tests, gives a runtime output sample, and reports a known lint failure on main.

Correction to my inline review comment on apps/server/src/config.ts: I overlooked the focused server logger test in apps/server/src/serverLogger.test.ts that asserts the exported resource contains service.instance.id. Please disregard the request for a server resource test; the earlier comment is not a finding.

Approvability
Verdict: Needs Human Approval
Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This is a focused observability fix that adds service-instance identifiers to existing exported resources across the supported clients and server paths. It also introduces a line-scoped static-analysis suppression, and the server resource wiring lacks a focused direct test for both generated and operator-provided IDs.

Addressed in the takeover: both server relay layers now take service.instance.id from processServiceInstanceId(config.otelEnvironment.resourceAttributes), so an operator value such as pod-7 matches the server resource. The docs now limit the override to server and desktop. serverLogger.test.ts covers the exported server resource. Resolving these threads.
