On mobile, after you add an environment once, the Add environment sheet keeps the old Code. If you then paste a new pairing link into Address, the app strips the link's code and pairs with the stale Code instead.

Takeover of #22322 by @NikitaMGrimm. Their commits are kept with their authorship. I rebased onto main and cut the tests down to two focused cases, since pairing.test.ts was pruned in #22588.

The fix: buildPairingUrl keeps a token that is already in the address and only uses the Code field when the address has none. Both it and parsePairingUrl now use the shared getPairingTokenFromUrl, so mobile picks the token the same way as web and the connection resolver. On submit, the sheet resets Address and Code from the URL it sends, so Code shows the code that was used. Web already behaves this way and is not changed.

Proof:

  • prefers a code embedded in the address over the Code field fails with main's pairing.ts and passes here. ignores a blank token in the address checks that a blank link token still falls back to the Code field.
  • vp test run apps/mobile/src/features/connection/pairing.test.ts (7 passed) and vp run check:changed (format, lint, knip, typecheck, test all pass).
  • No new screenshots: the sheet is React Native and I could not run a device here. The original PR has before/after captures from a physical iPhone Release build. Android was not run by anyone; the change is platform-independent JS.

Approvability

Verdict: Needs Human Approval

Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This is a narrowly scoped mobile bug fix with focused test coverage, but it changes which pairing credential is selected and passed into the remote connection flow. Because pairing tokens are authentication credentials, the change warrants human review under the sensitive-flow criteria.

📝 Walkthrough

Pairing URL construction and parsing now preserve existing tokens and use a shared token extractor. On submission, the connection screen updates its host and code inputs from the built URL before connecting.

Changes: Pairing URL handling

Layer / File(s)Summary
Pairing URL token handling
apps/mobile/src/features/connection/pairing.ts, apps/mobile/src/features/connection/pairing.test.ts
buildPairingUrl retains a token already in the URL. parsePairingUrl uses getPairingTokenFromUrl. Tests cover embedded-token precedence and fallback when the embedded token is blank.
Connection screen submission
apps/mobile/src/features/connection/ConnectionsNewRouteScreen.tsx
handleSubmit parses the built URL, updates the host and code inputs, and passes the same URL to connectAndClose.

Add a submit-time parser assertion.

handleSubmit parses the URL after buildPairingUrl and uses that result for the displayed Code field. The current tests assert only the built URL, so a parser precedence or fallback regression could pass without detecting a displayed-code mismatch.

Add a focused composition test:

This protects the submit flow when a connection attempt fails and the sheet remains visible.
