Before submitting

  • I searched existing issues and did not find a duplicate.
  • I included enough detail to reproduce or investigate the problem.

Area

apps/mobile

Steps to reproduce

  1. Launch t3 code on an android 16/17 (pixel) phone connected to an external touchscreen monitor
  2. Navigate around to the settings, to threads, and try to read the sidebar and the UI, and the thread text
  3. Resize the window

Expected behavior

The text should be clearly legible, the UI should fill the containers properly. Resizing makes the contents continue filling the available space.

Actual behavior

The entire UI text is clipped vertically to the point of being completely unreadable, the contents do not fill the containers properly, such as the main chat area not filling the screen. Resizing makes this worse.

The settings screen fills an even smaller portion of the screen. User messages are cut off, agent messages too.

Same visual failure on Samsung DeX (Galaxy Z Fold 4, 1920×1080 window), filed as #8195.

Useful extra signal from that report: the app is fine on this phone's unfolded inner screen (fullscreen tablet-sized), and only breaks once T3 Code is in a freeform desktop window. So this looks like Android windowed/desktop mode in general (Pixel Desktop + Samsung DeX), not “large screen / tablet layout” by itself.

Thanks for the detailed report. This looks like the same issue tracked in issue #8195.

Both reports concern the native Android app on an external desktop display: glyphs clip vertically, text overlaps, and content occupies only part of the window. The DeX reporter explicitly identifies the Pixel Desktop report as the same failure and provides a working Fold inner-display control. Issue 8195 is the stronger canonical because it preserves that control, distinguishes Text from TextInput and contains the density investigation. This does not establish that the proposed density fix has shipped.

I'm closing this as a duplicate as part of an automated pass on all open issues. I linked this report from issue #8195 so its extra details remain available. This does not mean the underlying bug is fixed.

#8200 is the bug fix for this Pixel Desktop failure (and the DeX duplicate at #8195). DisplayMetrics is rebound from the Activity so RN stops painting at phone density inside the desktop window: type should stay in its boxes, the chat pane and settings should fill the window, and resize should keep up.

The PR Fixes this issue as well as #8195.
