Before submitting

  • I searched existing issues and did not find a duplicate.
  • I included enough detail to reproduce or investigate the problem.

Area

apps/web

Steps to reproduce

  1. Have a project whose icon is set to a file in the repo, e.g. apps/web/public/favicons/a-card.svg, while that file does not exist on disk. In my case I deleted the checkout and cloned it again at the same path; any time the file is missing will do.
  2. The project shows its monogram. That is correct while the file is missing.
  3. Make the file exist again (the clone finishes).
  4. Within 30 minutes, open Settings → Projects → Project icon → Choose icon and pick the same file.

Expected behavior

The project shows the chosen icon.

Actual behavior

The project keeps showing the monogram. The settings row shows the right path and the reset button, so the choice was saved. Picking other files works. Picking the original file again still shows the monogram until the icon URL refreshes on its 30-minute interval, or the window reloads.

The project-favicon URL query is keyed by (environmentId, cwd, path). Picking a path the project had before goes back to that key, and the stale-while-revalidate cache returns the answer it already holds ("missing", or the failure from when the workspace root did not exist) without asking the server again. The server log shows projects.mutate for each pick, but no assets.createUrl when the original path is picked again.

Impact
