Review comments added to a pending question reach the agent as a bare t3-context link#28022

What happened

While Claude waited on an AskUserQuestion prompt, I added a comment to a line in the Diff panel. A chip appeared in the question's answer, and I submitted it. The agent received only [file.md L16](t3-context://v1/review-comment/review-comment_file-comment-...), without the comment text. It replied that it could not see the comment and asked me to retype it.

Diagnosis

onRespondToUserInput passes each answer through projectPendingUserInputAnswer. That function only converts thread references, so a review-comment reference stays as raw link text. The respond command has only answers and attachmentsByQuestionId, so the server does not receive the comment text. Normal messages work because the server expands references with projectComposerContextForProvider and the message's context records.

Steps to reproduce

Derived from one occurrence and stored data. Not re-run as a separate test.

  1. Start a Claude thread that makes changes and then asks an AskUserQuestion prompt.
  2. While the prompt waits, open the Diff panel and add a comment to a line.
  3. Confirm that the comment chip appears in the question's answer.
  4. Submit the answer.
  5. The agent receives only the link and cannot see the comment text.

Expected: the agent receives the comment text and diff, as it does for a normal message.

Version

0.1.6-nightly.20261031.3956 (d92c437baa19). projectPendingUserInputAnswer on main still has the same thread-only logic.

Environment

  • macOS (darwin arm64, 27.0.0)
  • Desktop app connected to a local server
  • Provider: Claude (Opus 5.5)

Evidence

Stored answer in the resolved user_input runtime request, with the question text shortened:

1"answers": { "<question>": "[<file>.md L16](t3-context://v1/review-comment/review-comment_file-comment-1793430535851-1)" }

For comparison, a user message with review comments on the same install stored context.records[], including kind: "review-comment", text and diff.
