[Bug]: Inline code in Markdown tables is as large as the table text around it#24166

Area

Steps to reproduce

  1. Ask an agent for a Markdown table with inline code in a cell, such as | None. The lockfile pins in `pnpm-lock.yaml` are clean. |.
  2. Look at the rendered table.

Inline code in a table cell is as large as the cell text, while inline code in body text is smaller than the paragraph

Expected behavior

Inline code in a table cell is a bit smaller than the cell text, the same way inline code in body text is smaller than the paragraph around it.

Actual behavior

The inline code is the same size as the cell text. Monospace looks larger at the same size, and the chip has its own padding and border, so it looks oversized and makes the line spacing in the cell uneven.

.chat-markdown :not(pre) > code sets a fixed font-size: 0.75rem, and .chat-markdown table also sets font-size: 0.75rem. A relative size inside tables would fix it, for example .chat-markdown table :not(pre) > code { font-size: 0.9em; padding: 0 0.25rem; }.
