The progress dialog has a close button, and Escape closes it too. Either
left the capture running, and its cleanup then popped whatever route was
on top: the editor. Closing the dialog any way now cancels the capture,
and the cleanup pops the dialog only if it is still open. A test closes
it with its X and finds the editor still there and no files written; it
fails with the unconditional pop.
